  1. Hello just some clarifications for presence attacks and one question about starting combat.

    1) When an enemy(or enemies) hesitates and acts after because you have achieved this effect with a PRE attack how do you resolve that? The enemy's DEX or EGO gets yours + 1 for example for this phase? or your DEX or EGO climbs above theirs? i ask these especially on how this interacts with the other combatants.

    2) In the example of 6E2 pg 138 with Arkelos, how Arkelos managed to use his Fire Bolt Spell to initiate a PRE attack before the Giants acting?

and now about starting combat, this connects with question 2 above

Lets say two hostile groups of combatants are verbally threatening each other but noone has started fighting yet, when someone suddenly tries to attack first and is not a surprise attack, does he get to attack first and then everyone othen acts normally on their DEX or normal initiative rules get into play(even he has to wait for his DEX)

  2. Hello, i need some clarifications with the Summon power.

A)As per 6E1 290 an Amicable summoned creature performs a number of tasks based on the bought Amicable level before it leaves, does this means

that after this predefined number of tasks you lose automatically control of the creature and you don't get an EGO vs EGO roll to gain more tasks

like in the case of an non-Amicable summon?

b ) Is it rules legal to have a Time Limit Limitation on a Summon so the creature vanishes after a predefined measure of time?

    C) The condition where an Amicable Summoned creature vanishes/self destructs when it performs its predefined number of tasks(and if you can't control it

anymore like in question A) deserves an extra limitation? for example an Necromancer Summons an slavish amicable automaton(zombie),after performing its number of

tasks the zombie melts to non-existence, is this included in the "it leaves" part of Summon or deserves extra limitation?

Thank you for you time and attention!

  3. Hello, another quick question, when you do Killing Damage and you dont use the hit locations(that means by standard rules using a 1/2d6) do you round the result of the Stun Multiplier before applying it to the BODY done?

for example i do 7 BODY with a killing attack, i roll 1d6 for Stun Muliplier and i get a 5, so i have a Stun Multiplier of x2.5

How much Stun i do before defenses?

    a)7 x 2.5 = 17.5 = 18

    b)7 x 3 = 21

  4. Hello, just a quick clarification for Two weapon fighting.

Using this skill in a multiple attack while holding and using two weapons, means that you get the cumulative  -2 OCV penalty starting counting from the third attack

    instead from the second?

For example in a multiple attack, using two weapons, without TWF to attack 4 times you get a -6 OCV in all your attacks(-2 x 3 attacks after the first) using the TWF for 4 attacks

you would get -4 OCV to all your attacks (-2 x 2 attacks after the second) right?

    Thank you in advance!!!

  5. Hello, just a quick question,in 6E2 P99 in the adding damage section is specifically stated that the normal rounding HERO rules are not applied in the case of adding damage above str minimum for a weapon,so you need a full 5 STR above minimum for +1 DC,does this apply also to KAs or HAs that dont have the str minimum limitation? For example a STR 13 character how many dcs can add to a HKA without the minimum STR limitation?

  6. Hmmm...

I read it and it all makes perfect sense, when wearing my old HERO grognard hat that is.

Then I noticed there isn't a basic Damage Class table in CC like the one in the HSBR page 101.

DC is such a basic core concept that many of us tend to forget it may not immediately make a lot of sense to a new player.  Now that I am thinking about it, I have used the DC Table several times when teaching a new player.

    Here is the basic idea.

    DC   Killing      Normal

    1      1 pip        1d6

    2      ½d6         2d6

    3      1d6          3d6

    4      1d6+1      4d6

    5      1½d6       5d6

    6      2d6          6d6

    7      2d6+1      7d6

    8      2½d6       8d6

    9      3d6          9d6

    10    3d6+1     10d6

    11    3½d6      11d6

    12    4d6         12d6

    13    4d6+1     13d6

    14    4½d6      14d6

    15    5d6         15d6

1d6 Killing and 3d6 Normal are both 3 DC and generally 15 points.

Usually just one glance at the chart clicks the concept in place and you don't really need it anymore.

Yeah i don't disagree that DC are pretty straightforward in all books(CC,HSBR,HS6EV1,2) what is not straightforward in CC is the concept off adding damage to Advantaged Attack Powers.

For example if we follow the instructions in CC pg.156 that starts "For attacks with advantages... " and we make that special Active Point calculation  for lets say an attack

with Base Cose 20 Points and with an Advantage(that modifies the way the victim takes damage) of +1/2, that equals 30 Active Points, and apply it to the above paragraph of "An attack’s DC is based on the number of Active Points in it divided by 5" we have no information on how the "Adding Damage" rules of CC.pg 157 apply to this CP/DC ratio, the information that is missing is that of HS6EV2 pg.97("Damage Classes of Advantaged Power") which is pretty crusial for game balance.

  7.  I don't follow.  Adding Damage (CC pg 157) is pretty clear to me.  Can you pop a page number and short quote on what part is unclear?

I'm going to be introducing some players to HERO soon and it would be helpful to have an idea of where the rules may be unclear in the books.

My biggest concern about new players are with the "Damage Classes DC"(CC pg 156) where it's written that damage classes are calculated

using the formule active points / 5 = DC, but it does not at all refer to how is this applied to Adding Damage to an advantaged attack power.

The same section writes about the "special Active Point calculation" but i am sure nobody owning/reading only CC will get the idea.

  8. Hello fellow Hero fans and a happy new year :)

I have recently acquired CC, being a Hero player from 5th Edition Revised.I really like this book and i haven't had any problem with it, but only because

i own 6EV1 & V2, i think much stuff in it require from the reader further clarification from the 6EV1 & V2.For example i don't think a new to Hero reader(Owning only CC)

will ever apply the Adding Damage Rules to an Advantaged power correctly because this is only indirectly referenced before the adding damage rules in CC.

    Just my humble opinion.

Also where can i download errata now that the old site is closed?

    Thank you in advance!
