Re: The cranky thread
City of Heroes is gone' date=' this morning. The world is a bit dimmer. Probably only to be brightened by NCSoft's demise as a company. I continue to hope.[/quote']Agreed, on all counts. I still have trouble fathoming NCSoft's reason's for shutting down a successful game without at least selling it. The ill will (OK, outright hostility and blood-boiling hatred) they have generated in the gamer community means that fewer players are going to be willing to trust any games they release for fear that the plug will be pulled at any moment. Ergo, killing this game to focus on other games and to be more profitable will only make them LESS profitable in the long run - and it was something any first year business student could have predicted.

Sooo...D(ivorce)-Day today. I could hit the Powerball and go home to a foursome with nubile triplets' date=' and today would still kinda suck. [/quote']I feel your pain, man. My own D-Day was almost 5 years ago, and even though it *was* the best thing for me in the long run, that day was still a supremely suck-taskic one.

Re: Quote of the Week From My Life.
Wife: I just had the most bizarre dream!
Me: You? (For the viewing audience, having bizarre dreams is very run-of-the-mill for her).
Wife: Very funny. But no, it was like the most bizarre dream ever!
Me: You mean... we were an average, normal family?
Wife: Whaaa?
Me: ::shrugs:: It was the most bizarre things *I* could thing of...

Re: The cranky thread
Much too subtle' date=' I'd go for the force lightning. Painfuller too.[/quote']The practical side of me prefers to have the powers that are least likely to land me in jail for using them. Good luck convincing a jury that me making choking motions with my fingers actually caused a man to die. But eye witness testimony from folks who saw (and took pictures with cell phones!) lightning flying from my fingertips is hard to argue against.

Re: Musings on Random Musings
Well' date=' we could run....[/quote']Can't do that, either. 'Bec is like the Reavers: if you run, you'll just draw his attention... and then the chase is on... and the chase has only one, very sad, ending. And, yes, I used the word "ending" on purpose.

Now comes the part where we all stand around looking sheepish. Are you kidding? When Mightybec is around, anything that looks remotely sheepish is at risk. The only safe play is to look as NON-sheepish as possible.

Re: Musings on Random Musings
I heard that when Coke first tried to enter China, they found out that the English slogan "Coke adds life" translated into the Chinese characters as "Coke brings your ancestors back from the grave."JG
The way I heard it told, the phonetic translation of "Coca Cola" came out in Chinese as "Bite the wax tadpole", and it was Pepsi's slogan "Come alive with the Pepsi generation" came out as "Pepsi brings your ancestors back from the grave."

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
I remember back when I was introduced to CoC - were were very clearly told by the GM that making a party of combat monsters was going to get us killed, or worse. Yes, one or two would be handy, but we *had* to have characters capable of doing research, or there was no point in playing.

Re: The cranky thread
As we have but one car, and the VA Board of Elections *still* hasn't fixed my address and polling place (and I got my change request in well before the deadline), we are up at the ass-crack-of-early to do voting. We go to my place first, then I go to work and let the wife have the car so she can can then go vote at her place right down the road. With any luck, doing this right when the polls open should keep our waiting to a minimum.
