A: A few years ago' date=' I stopped throwing around the word "charming" because I used it too much and because although I recognized it when I saw it, I didn't have a definition of the word. Now I do.[/quote']

Q: Why did you change you name, Prince Charming?

    A: Seven doors.

So we were at the Maryland Renaissance Festival earlier today, watching The Dueling Fools do their act. At the end, one of them has a sword sticking out of him. Also bear in mind that it's just the two of them (two men) on stage.

George: So how does this end?

Rocco: Well, that depends on whether it is a comedy or a tragedy.

    George: If it's a tragedy?

    Rocco: Somebody dies.

George: Oh! I don't like that. What if it's a comedy?

Rocco: Then somebody has to get married!

Me (calling out from the audience): That *is* legal in Maryland, you know!

:: the audience roars as the two of them exchange an awkward glance::

George: (hastily) If those are my choices... I'd rather be dead!

Bloody CO servers took a nosedive just after 9pm EST tonight - and on the heels of a patch, no less. It took them this long to post a generic "Champions Online is currently offline. We are aware of this issue and are working on bringing the server back online as soon as possible." pop-up on the home page.

Don't do it instead of having your own business - just a side income. It kills your soul' date=' ambition, self-esteem, and self-confidence 90% faster than most legal work.[/quote']

Small wonder it's so popular in DC... do this work for a few years, and you'll be ready to enter politics.

The problem is that for any of your daily (or even weekly) acquaintances, such changes are too subtle for them to notice til you mention it, at which point they do a mental rewind and realize that yes, you DO look different. Someone who knows you as well, but hasn't seen you in a month or more, is a lot more likely to notice, because you have "over night" significantly altered the "pattern" you fit into in their head.

And then, there are the folks who are completely clueless like a former co-worker of mine. I had long hair, a beard and a mustache, and had been this way for quite some time. Then, one day, I went into work clean shaven and my hair cut down short. This guy took a look at me and said, "There's something different about you... did you get contacts?"

Since New Year's, I've been working out 3 days a week, and going on a vigorous walk outside the other days. I've lost 20 pounds, and then gained it back in muscle. I'm leaner and harder than I was. I need to buy a smaller belt because the one I have has run out of holes. My biceps, abs, and chest have definition now. I can run an 8 minute mile. I'm not going to be competing in any Olympic events, but it sure would be nice if somebody said, "Hey, looking good there bunneh. Did you lose some weight?"

It makes me sad that all my effort has gone completely unnoticed. :(

I've lost 25+ pounds since May because I've been on the Atkin's diet. People only seem to notice it when I mention it, and they they say, "Oh, yeah. You look a lot better, your face is thinner," etc.

Alas, I'm cranky because the reality of my finances makes it necessary for me to abandon that diet! It's going to be really hard for me to try to eat "normally" again without thinking, "Dear God, the carbs will make me fat again!" That'll be my motivation to committing myself to regular exercise.

I don't know about Teleios' Tower' date=' but Destroyer Factory has been bugged since the Nighthawk update. You can't finish the final room because Destroyerbot's flying fist drones keep duplicating. Even if you teleport past them, they home in after about a minute and no character can stand up to that barrage for long.:)[/quote']

    The bugs are crazy.

Nemesis missions: the more I pound on the Nem, the more hit points he gets so his health-bar always remains exactly at the same mark.

Monster Island Crisis: the giant flaming monkey does so much knockback to the Teleosaurus that it goes flying a mile away. Oh, and its health bar never drops below 2/3, either.

Viboria Bay Crisis: The cutscene where The Big T destroys the elemental gems doesn't play.

And this is just off the top of my head in what I've seen recently.

On the other hand, the new jets are amazingly awesome - especially the Interceptor. I don't use it for combat, but the ability to go from one side of the map to the other in a matter of seconds makes it worth every Zen I spent on it :)

    Discussing King Lear...

Wife: "Blow winds and crack your cheeks. Everybody dies."

Me: Is that really a line from the play?

Wife: Well, the "Blow wind" part is, yes.

Me: It sounds like he's describing an epic fart.

Wife: Gee, thanks! I'll never be able to ever hear that line without laughing again!

Though I will add separately that my little trevails of late are pretty superficial, all things considered.

Gewing, L. Marcus, you have my heartfelt sympathies.

Agreed. Considering the some stuff I've seen on this board recently, nothing I'm enduring could possibly touch that level of "cranky".

    My inadequate sympathies to all.

We all are. The team at Paragon Studios was informed, without any other warning, Friday afternoon. They let the players know about 15 minutes later.

I'd decided 2-3 years ago that I was never again doing any new business with NCSoft, due to other decisions on their part. Many of us knew they were trying to strangle CoH, so that they could let it go and say "not our fault". Apparently, since that failed, they gave in and axed it with the blunt side. Since they've never cared about their North American and European players, they really have nothing to lose, from their perspective.

I suppose it's "nice" to know I made the right decision.

Regardless of how much they do or don't care about a certain block of players, why on Earth would any business try to close down something that is successful? I mean, isn't making money the whole point of being in business? Or has CoH not been a money maker?
