Re: Pulp Hero Resources
For a nice snapshot of American history by the decades (in this case, the Twenties and Thirties), this is a good website. I find it especially useful for filling out campaign backgrounds.

Re: Western Hero Resources
Good start, QM!
Here's another one for the RPG section.
FGU Wild West RPG online (warning: pop-ups alert)
This looks legit site and as always FGU stuff is great for source material.

Re: Victorian Hero Resources
Hey OM, you should add this link to thi page. Its from your Pulp Hero Resources page but has many gadgets for your victorian inventor to tinker with.
Oh and bump for a great page.

Re: Pulp Hero Resources
Even though you can find this link through the Pulp Hero Index link, I really think this site deserves a link of its own on the front page. It's a classic Hero site and I'm glad its still around.
Thanks to TheRavenIs for reminding me of it!

Re: Help for a World War II game
The closest I can think of off-hand is Dany St-Pierre's Hero Pulp website. It's for 3rd or 4th Edition but converting isn't too hard. The best source is to find a copy of the Golden Age of Champions supplement (sadly OOP). It's for 4th edition Hero System, but it's chock full of templates, equipment and information for running a campaign during during World War II.

Nice find, Susano!
(Boy, that Rocky character remind me of a player from a Gangbusters game I use to play in.)

Why thank you sir.Don't pat yourself on the back too son QM. I was referring to my contributions!
Heh, just kidding.

Re: "Back when I started playing Champions...."
Back when I started playing Champions' date=' we didn't have laptops and HERO Designer. We made our characters on a legal pad, with a pencil and an eraser... and an abacus.[/i']I practically wore the buttons of my old four-banger of a calculator designing characters.
I think I still remember my first character. It was a Marksman clone named Shooter (or was it Quickshot?) who got his butt handed to him quite regularly.

Re: Anyone done Ghost Rider in HERO?
A bit disappointed in the movie but I think he'd make a great guest star in a campaign. It was an okay movie, but you're rght, I don't think they got Ghost Rider just right (or at least the way I imagine him).
Penance Gaze as a NND energy blast, no range. The defense is having no soul, no remorse, no conscience, or being a power gamer.Yeah, basically, the Penance Stare seems to drive victims into having a life altering moment (mental transform?), a cataconic state (-100 STUN?), or insane (mental transform again?). You can bits and pieces of Ghost Rider shrewn about the forum. His Penance Stare has been discussed many times and people have tried to decide if his motorcycle is a summonable vehicle or just an OAF Flight power.
Does his body flames act like real flames ala a damage shield. Or are they just a special effect. I couldn't tell from the movie. It does seem more of a special effect than anything else in the comics. It should be noted his motorcycle leathers seems to act as a containment vessel for his flames. There are a few times when he got puncture and the hellfire gets released.

Re: Zeppelins!
Your friend has good taste.
You can find stats for zeppelins in The Ultimate Vehicle supplement (p.75). Which is basically the same as in Pulp Hero. Both are pretty good builds but I think max lift is still to high. Check the Crimson Skies Planes Conversion thread further down in the Pulp Hero Genre forum. I placed my write-up for the ZR4 Akron on the first page there.
If you also check QuestionMan's Pulp Hero Resources page, theres some good links there too.
Too the Skies!

Re: Pulp Hero Resources
Don Carnage I presume?Heh, no ... well, sort of.
I admire his style and his conveyances, and he is a snazzy dresser , but my inspirations are a little more old-school.
I've always like pirates. My favorite characters in games like traveller, twilight 2000 and flashing blades were pirates. I've always like airships, since movies like Hindenberg and Zeppelin. But what finally brought the two together was the Crimson Skies boardgame.
By the way, I see you're living up to your moniker.

Re: Pulp Hero Resources
Sorry forgot to say Happy New Year everyone im my previous post.
Here's another link I wish to share. This person shares her memories of travelling by airship in 1933.

Re: Pulp Hero Resources
Here's a great link that was posted recently in the Dragonsfoot forum. The creater of this site has a gallery of cover art for Weird Tales magazine starting with the year 1923. I thought I had to post the link here. They should provide great inspiration for your pulp adventures.

Re: Vehicle: Post-Apocalyptic Combat Car
This rapidly starts degrading into Car Wars-like silliness.Hey! any game that has an armored beer fridge IS a great game!
Uhm... anyone? Any comments? Was it too weird? Funny? Stupid?Where's the armored beer fridge?

Re: Flyboys: WWI pilots, dogfights, and zepplins!!!
It was an older movie (at least the 60's)' date=' any idea what it might have been?[/quote']Might it have been Zeppelin (1971) starring Michael York? A good movie anyway!

Re: 39 point me
AmadanNaBriona[/b]]Thanks for the blank sheet!I'm confident that many of my PS's are still mostly in place...
Yup. I'm about to go over to the power cage in my den and bench press 335 pounds. Now remember, Amada, to include potential skill modifiers (pg. 28 in the Skills chapter of my rulebook) when deciding your skill levels. And OddHat, how much are you pushing your strength when you press 335 pounds? Be honest now!
Seriously, this is what gives the most headaches when I try to stat NPCs myself. Kudos to people like Surbrook. Thats why I think we need a good set of guidelines.
You know, I really don't want to try to realistically stat myself now. I think that would be really depressing. Thankfully this is the HERO System!

Re: 39 point me
I think psychologist ought to require folks to stat themselves out as a theraputic tool.Or the person to the left of you. Man, I always hated those exercises!
That said, I always found this fun to do with any game system. But as some of the replies above show, you would definately need to set some benchmarks for characteristics and some base rules so everyone starts on the same page.

Re: Flyboys: WWI pilots, dogfights, and zepplins!!!
I'll see it though' date=' even if only for the flying scenes, I hate Top gun but always have to sit down and watch the great flying scenes.[/quote']Yeah, I'm going to see it too if only to see the flight scenes. The CGI effects look great in the promos.
Now if only they would start putting as much effort into the rest of the movie (like a good plot, writing and acting!) but somehow I don't think its going to replace my favorite WWI flying ace movie of all time Dawn Patrol.
[wiseguy mode ON] Also, I would not be worthy of my chosen monicker, it I did not point out, that the airships in this movie were name after their inventor Count Von ZEPPELIN! [Wiseguy mode OFF]

Re: Hero System for Horror gaming
Van Helsing is more of an action movie with horror elements. The heroes are too on-par with the villains to really have much of a fear factor.Your point being? This is the HERO System we're talking about after all!
(Actually, I know what you and the others are saying. But my playing group loves the Hero System because it allows them to play larger-than-life characters. They want their cool gadgets (I curse that movie for introducing that crossbow-chaingun!). Mind you, it still easy to scare the bejeebus out of them because my monsters Hero-sized too ).
