  1. I was just watching a DaVinchi code thing on the history channel (jusus was married, had a daughter, church cover up for 2k years, knight templar, etc...)

and it got me thinking, this could be a really cool modern/dark cahmpions idea...the last of the 'blood royal' (jesus' line) today, hunted by dark forces, has uncontrolable power (but maifest for 'good' deeds only) and doesn't realize who she/he is !! our dark champions characters stumble into this 2000 year drama and get stuck in the middle....dark forces on one side want to kill the decendant, and so do the church(s) to keep the truth buried and the world in general hasn't a clue !!!

a bit sacriligious sure, but imagine the possibilities for a ripping good camapign...

  2. Re: Fourth Age Hero

there is a book that you might find worth looking into, the atlas of middle earth.

It can be found at amazon.com (used too), i read through it at borders, plainer english that the back of ROTHK (return of the king), maps, migration, etc....similar to living greyhawk book, but not a really a gaming resource (pretty close though...) I was toying with the idea of getting it myself to try ME write ups......

I think this thread should be called : 'Heroes of Middle earth' or 'ME HERO' ....

With his own theme song!

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,

Merry, merry king of the bush is he,

    Laugh, Kookaburra, Laugh, Kookaburra,

    Gay your life must be.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree

Eating all the gumdrops he can see

    Stop, Kookaburra, Stop, Kookaburra

    Leave some there for me.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,

Counting all the monkeys he can see

    Stop, Kookaburra, Stop, Kookaburra,

    That's no monkey, that's me.

    I NEW I HAD THE SPELL'N WRONG......DANGNABIT!!! :stupid:

  5. Re: Sex as a skill

No, this is not a set-up for some sort of joke.

I'm interested in opinions on how to express skilled sexual ability. Basically, I have come across some descriptions of a race of beings who are described as irresistible seducers, very sexually active, and experts at lovemaking.

So... is this KS: (Sexual Techniques), or is it PS:? Or both?

Oh, and anyone who says it's actually a combination of Acrobatics, Breakfall, and Contortionist gets a smack to the back of the head.

    ofcourse:

    seduction skill

use COM...ability role as a mod: char/5+9 (remember +1 mod to seduction per +2 of abilty role made by (think of a Com role as primping and preening for the big test...to look your best)

and lets try something from P.49 (skill levels)..I like to call :

Sexual skill levels (2 pt +1w/Com role, 3 pt +1w/seduction, 5 pt +1w/ {ahem}"interpersonal" skills)...to reflect 'training' or a natural leaning to this feild of endevour.....

    how's that?

    :)

  6. Re: Star Blazers/Capt. Harlock setting.

Yes' date=' but Matsumoto had to be very strongly dissauded from including Harlock in [i']Space Batttleship Yamato[/i] because he is truly enamored of the character.

He could of put a harlock(ish) great grand parent in as one of the crew...a background spacehand or something......'foreshadowing' gotta luv it.

  7. Re: TSR Alternity

my mistake...the camapign i had was the Stardrive setting that had darkmatter powerplants...the spooky saetting was the darkmatter campaign (the one I passed on getting...)

    silly me.....

    :stupid:

  8. Re: Star Blazers/Capt. Harlock setting.

    nononononononononononono..............

if your going to do Capt Harlock, you'll need Emeraldis and the galaxy Express 999.

I just cannot see captain Harlock going agaist Gamalon....That's what the yamato is for, it was the ONLY ship big and bad enough to do it...

besides, Captain Harlock's time period was way in the future from Yamato.....

    there, my $.02.....

  9. Re: TSR Alternity

Actually, the rules were anything but AD&D. The game was skill based with several levels of success and a wounds system not much different from WEG's Star Wars. Although namely a class/level game, the four classes were nothing more than a set of advantages while levels were useless (you received experience points and after you have enough to achieve a new level you used the same points to buy new skills or improve the ones you already have). As a matter of fact, the six abilities were the only thing taken from AD&D.

The game is pretty good to play and it looks gorgeous. By far is the best roleplaying game published by TSR and much superior to d20.

T$R had a scifi system (not gamma world) that was the AD&D 'mechanic' but it flopped also...anyone remember Buck Rogers in the XXV century?

alternity used a kinda funky add/ subtract dice system (base dice) -/+ 1d4, 1d6, 1d8, etc... vs a target number ....once gotten used to, actually made sense....thought some of PC species where a bit funky...like the mechaus, a cybernetic species that once made a fellow species that lived on a world in their home system go extinct, now they all have this collective guilt over it that has become a personailty trait....the wren I like, the sesheyan too. The system did better with tech/ships, etc than D20 Future thats for sure....IMHO

Only had the darkmatter campaign book, not that x-files/conspiracy one that they put out....I like the clicks

  10. Re: DMH: PHYs Lim: Hormonal

    hmmm, 'hormonal'....

As the human slave to a macaw (thats a new world parrot to those who don't know) 'breeding season' brings on very distinct and (oft) painful personality changes (just ask ANY parrot owner) that can best be described as 'hormonal'....urges kick in (sex), territorial-ness, agression, then in an instant(click): passive, gentle...(click): the former...on/off/on/off....and even BOTH AT ONCE !!!

it's a compressed rollercoaster ride for 3 months (and bloody fingers).......

I think a little internet research would help...DYH (double yellow head) or YN (yellow Nape) amazon MALE in breeding season would BE your prime example for this lim....

way WAY worse than humans females could ever be...but good for a 'alien' lim.

  11. Re: This just in...

'THEM !'...mutant giant ants, 1950's horror...tarantulas, scorpion, gila monster, jackrabbit (night of the leapus ring a bell?...killer giant rabbits, desrt community, starred deforest kelly...)

    origin for 'solar-kid/man/babe'....

...was in reality, a 'solarian' scientient creature from the sun, either a) captured by "accident" by the probe, B) first Ambassidor C) extradited criminal for creating solar flares?

...reminded of a johny quest episode involving an energy thingy...[shug]

wonder if it related (six degrees of separation stuff) from the seti signal?

  12. Re: Name for a Future Tech Explosive

DEPENDS ON THE NATURE OF THE EXPLOSIVE....

does it react at the nuclear level? molecular reaction? doeas the explosive force mainly travel perpendicular to the force of gravity (travellers TDX for example...)

name could have the 'techical' description..aka: the above examples and a common 'nickname' most users would call it...aka, 'thumper', 'slick-willie', 'bug juice', punch-buggie', etc....

  13. Re: Interstellar communications

two words.."Crystal Singer" by Anne McCaffery(SP?)

the main character is a prospector with perfect pitch that hunts a special crystal formation....any crystals from the 'core plant' can resonate with each other NO MATTER THE DISTANCE, but only with those that came off that particular formation...a hunter needs perfect pitch to test the cystal resonance...these are the basis of the interstellar communications network...good idea, workable inho.

    anyone else read the book?

    if not, read it....

  14. Re: A troubling Ambrethel issue.

lookiing at the real world....english is most used in aviation (control towers, etc...) internation business, etc....

regionally, isn't swahili a language made of 'bit of other languages'? and is close to a 'trade tongue' in vast areas of africa?....hmmm, for the educated, latin is universal for scientist/medicine/academia/religion (catholic mostly)..and Greek is widespread in religion (orthodox, I think...), esparanto.....

maybe not a 'world wide' common language, regional ones make more sense...

    my $.02

  15. Re: Romantic Space Pirates
