  1. oh'kay folks.... dark tower series...good campaign or not?
  2. if I remember right, it often took the hole team to bring down some of the boomers....so 900-1000 pts doesn't seem bad
  3. and the perpetual struggle against CHAOS, rather than those awfull catagorized alignment of the gamethatwillnotbementioned has....
  4. lets not forget, that a higher power (in RQ) effects stealth and concealment skill becuase of the aura you project...RQIII, page 14... sounds alot like a combo both Presence AND Ego to me....
  5. I dont play the 'living' part...I have the 'living greyhawk gazeteer' and it's chock full of details (politics, geographics, etc...) Greyhawk has been a familiar world setting since 1edition D&D when it (the setting) was little more than a pamphlet and a crappy map. So, I figure, why not?
  6. Has anyone done anything serious with D&D's GreyHawk sorld setting? I'me talking about the 'living greyhawk' 3rd edtion stuff..after the greyhawk wars, iuz in control of vast area of the flanaess. also, does anyone have a 3rd ed. to hero conversion?
  7. I wish they'd bring it back....(the series) I could get some great ideas from it....
  8. ok, Darkwing would make a cool campaign right?....ok, but I remember an episode where a planet of superheroes lost their 'normal guy' (he ran away and hit in darkwing's city city i think..) and the supers needed a new 'normal guy'....their choise was DARKWING !!!..... anyone remember that episode?
  9. the zombies hopped....the vampire was always levatating or tunneling and could drag a half dozen people around (that tried to chain him...)
  10. it started when I seen a martial arts /hongkong action flick called 'vampire hunters'...all through the movie I kept thinking about how would I write these guys up in hero....MA capaign, heroic pts....basically, 4 heroes are hunting a chinese vampire that is terrorizing an area....kills folks, they come back as zompies, if the zompies kill they become vampires and so on.....but the type of vampire is a WHOLE LOT DIFFERENT than the classic western/european type.....breath weapon that melts stone, inhale that is a strong TK (pulls victemms to it), flight...etc....but loaded with disads (can't see anyone that is wet for example) that proved it downfall..... the movie was called 'vampire Hunters'....forgot the director's name though.... no one responded to this post, so I try to delete it....system wouldn't let me...so I wiped it in an edit and put in the smilies..... and brings you up to speed..... hellofaridehuh?
  11. your right, i should...I wanted to delete it, but the system wouldn't let me.
  12. try this.... Play one more session of D&D... At the end of wich, collect the character sheets for "administrative maintenance" and before the next session...CONVERT the characters. when the players arrive to continue.... just a thought....
  13. ok...here goes (flame retardant suit is on and secure..) Any one remember all those disney adventure cartoons?...i'm talking: Darkwing Duck Tail spin Gummi Bears Duck tails Gargoyles etc.... stuff campaigns are made of......
  14. i've been playing for a very long time, (since '79) and have given most systems a shot over the years....dnd in all editions, aftermath, space opera, gamma world, MERP, Marrow Project...etc... for me, the appeal of hero....its a more 'mature' system than the d20, no 'classes' to pigeon -hole a player into, no artificial ranking system that does little more than play into the munchkin/ power-gamer /lawer hands....hero, requires forethought in adventure and character creations, as a result, a certain depth is created that is lacking in other systems. Also, DnD (as an example) began as a WARGAME !!! a tabletop, minis game that branched into an rpg, (i was around then, and played it, remmember 'chainmail'? little grey spiral-bound book?) it (DnD) still retains those elements....that find it, kill it, take its teasure while chanting 'ECKS-PEE', ECKS-PEE' feel..... most following rpg's borrowed from the DnD model, hero from the beginning (I had the blue box, with the GREY champions book & microdice) 'felt' different, still does and probably always will.....a feel of sophistication did that make sense?
  15. you should see the junk that migrated into my cubicle.....talk about toys... anyway, I looked at the website, played the game a bit.....looks like it could translate into a campaign with little more that building the creatures, but the infor----almost directly, i think
  16. there's a website?..... if people think it a do-able idea, then i'll put some work into it and see what happens.....and i'm 40 also, I still watch cartoons (anime mostly), play rpg's (since d&d was a white box) and champions had a grey cover (i still have those micro-D6's too...) and I sit infront of a computer drawing techinical pictures thinking about how (if I where a mastermind villian) to take over the world........ ....to prove my mousey worth.....(its a pinky & the brain thing) thanks, i'll post what I do.....
  17. beats me....i don't have any of the toys, comics or what ever its based on....just a commercial i saw that planted the seeds of an idea. prob. a stoopid idea anyway.....
  18. I was watching the old idiot box (ie, TV) the other day and a commercial came on for those bionacle toys....the robots, masks, matanui, a bio of their world, I'm sure you've seen them.....and got to thinking campaign idea.... PC's are IA robots built by alien race (human?) and set to work terra-forming a world...in the process, a silicone-based life form is disturbed that respons to this invasion by taking over hosts to fight (the masks). no off-world aid (communication cut, forgotten about, etc...), limited resourses (most of world is still wild, just a few major urban centers and outposts).... hostile alien animals, villianious(?) alien mind set on revenge, isolated location (far distant alien world), wild and urban with little if any 'middle' enviroments.... any thoughts? ok, I know this is a rambling post, think of it as thinking out loud, brainstorming....
