  1. Re: Bold crooks...

    Thank you! :hail:

Now I have the key to the next arc of the story! We have been "spinning our wheels" with minor affairs that do not last beyond one session.

I see now what to do. The players' characters will have to do something like this so as to remove a major weapon-component from the evil bad guy. This shall be fun to set up! :sneaky:

  2. Re: Brainstorming a mystical superhero mansion

Food arrives in the fridge(s), cupboard(s), like that. Doesn't have to be brought in, just arrives. Might be not paid for, might be after paid for; GM decides.

Other supplies the same. Imagine never running out of TP! :D

Heating/cooling straight from elemental planes, or wherever. Always a good temperature; private rooms always what the person wants.

  3. Re: PRE Attacks for scary creatures

I think you've got it. Just declare that undead freak everyone out, and then decide if it happens because in YOUR world they have higher PRE than the book, or if it's PRE, Only To Attack, or if it's just your house rules.

    Whatever works...

  4. Re: Here's Me

Tugger is an Aboriginal tribesman. Koala Joe is...well..a Koala who's latched onto The Captain and seems to get himself into trouble with some frequency. Winny is a zoologist from the Sydney Zoo that is helping him. Jackjumper is a bug-themed Aussie hero I pulled out of my feathery butt - Jackjumpers are nasty' date=' vicious jumping ants.[/quote']

    Thank you for the information.

However, what you have written raises in my mind one question. "I pulled out of my feathery butt" seems to imply the others are not your own invention; perhaps they are derivatives of, or homages to, characters I am unfamiliar with. Is that correct, or did you have some reason to especially point out Jackjumper as being your invention?

  5. Re: World War II era: Dark Champions or Pulp Hero?

Most WWII stories (esp. in the comics) are Pulp. Pulp stories have a "good vs. bad' date=' no middle ground" sensibility.[/quote']

For the sake of completeness and accuracy, allow me to point to the exception; the "hardboiled detective" story is both utterly Pulp, and very much the "shades of gray" story.

As well, it can be a great amount of fun. :)

  6. Re: Predators: who else found the 'Easter Egg'?

What is the Easter Egg in Dark Champions?

    A disguised grenade, of course.

This is Dark Champions, after all. :eg:

Seriously, what is meant by an Easter Egg in a book? I understand the term in relation to computer games, where something can be hidden unless a peculiar series of actions is taken. I do not see how such is even possible in a book.

    Could someone enlighten me, please?

  7. Re: The Hanzo sword

I know it's semi-official in Superheroic games' date=' but I hate Transform for cutting off limbs or blinding. If I were going to allow it at all, I'd just use the optional rules as they stand and be done with it.[/quote']

By "optional rules" I believe you mean the rules on pages 276 through 280 regarding Bleeding, Disabling, Impairing, and Wounding.

Though complicating combat somewhat, I agree these work much better than the "Transform kludge."

Which raises the possibility of modeling an exceptional sword by giving it a die or two of HKA with the Limitations Does No STUN (-1/4) and Only To Determine if Bleeding, Disabling, Impairing, Or Wounding Have Occurred (-1).

    Rather nasty, isn't it? :eg:

  8. Re: World encyclopedia

    Of course I did! :D

If I thought you believed that shtuff, I wouldn't have sassed at you, I would have kept quiet and sneaked away!

Always the best thing to do around paranoids.

If you want more to worry about, remember that in Russian "red" is the same word as "beautiful." So they've taken over the beauty pagents!

  9. Re: World War II era: Dark Champions or Pulp Hero?

I was curious if anyone had ever run campaigns set in this time period, either for Pulp Hero or Dark Champions style stories. Which "style feel" did you use?

For examples of military stories, I would imagine the best known are Nick Fury and his Howling Commandoes (Marvel) or Sgt. Rock and Easy Company (DC).

However, there was also plenty to do for spybusters and vigilantes to do on the home front in America. The Batman was pretty busy, for example. Would his comic be an example of Dark Champions or Champions? Can you do Golden Age style Dark Champions, or is that a contradiction?

Most WWII stories (esp. in the comics) are Pulp. Pulp stories have a "good vs. bad, no middle ground" sensibility. DC is all about "shades of gray," "making deals with the devil," and that type of feel.

Though the DC book has better info on firearms, which are of paramount concern in WWII stories; that is, combat settings. Not quite so important for "home front" stories.

  10. Re: Guns on cards

The basic concept goes back to the original Morrow Project (perhaps further; I do not personally know).

That game had half-sized sheets with all the information for each gun. You were allowed to "photocopy for personal use only" as many copies as needed.

A very convenient method - - - Hero Games needs something of the sort, IMHO.

  11. Re: Superhero idea: The Cycler

I once was in a humor campaign with some charries like this. Only one I really remember was The Housewife.

She had a HA: Rolling Pin, a HKA: Frying Pan, a Dispel: Vacuum Cleaner (DustDevil kind; carryable and battery power), PRE Attack (Mom-nagging), and like that. Very funny. :D

You're repeating yourself redundantly again. ;):snicker:

Nice stuff in the zip file, BTW.

  12. Re: "Mundane" Magic Items

I'm married - a marital intent detector really wouldn't do me much good. What I want is...

    A pen that...

    --never runs out of ink

    --writes on anything

--but only on what i want it to (NOT the inside of my pocket!!!!!!)

--has an "erase" setting for its writing

--is always in the pocket when I look for it (you know, the one it ISN'T leaking into)

...I suppose that would amount to a mildly mutated Images power...and if it isn't a Focus, some doofus can't even walk away with it accidentally!

If you add "Writes what is said, but only when commanded to," you will have the ultimate scribes' tool. ;)
