  1. Re: dark champions from each of the 50 states To each her own, of course, but to me Dark Champions says cities. I do think it would be more reasonable to create one character for each of the USA's 50 largest cities. The Metropolitan Statistical Areas are more useful than city limits for this purpose. Behold, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_of_United_States_Metropolitan_Statistical_Areas !
  2. Re: Bold crooks... Thank you! Now I have the key to the next arc of the story! We have been "spinning our wheels" with minor affairs that do not last beyond one session. I see now what to do. The players' characters will have to do something like this so as to remove a major weapon-component from the evil bad guy. This shall be fun to set up!
  3. Re: Liquid Armour Excellently cool substance! But why did the author capitalize "soldier"?
  4. Re: What would your inner geek pick? Shapeshifting is the way I'd go, with a VPP for appropriate powers. Though Telepathy appeals, too.
  5. Re: Brainstorming a mystical superhero mansion Food arrives in the fridge(s), cupboard(s), like that. Doesn't have to be brought in, just arrives. Might be not paid for, might be after paid for; GM decides. Other supplies the same. Imagine never running out of TP! Heating/cooling straight from elemental planes, or wherever. Always a good temperature; private rooms always what the person wants.
  6. Re: Looking for a pic Heh. Look for drawings of Red Sonja; some the ones I've seen look jail-bait-ish to me.
  7. Re: PRE Attacks for scary creatures I think you've got it. Just declare that undead freak everyone out, and then decide if it happens because in YOUR world they have higher PRE than the book, or if it's PRE, Only To Attack, or if it's just your house rules. Whatever works...
  8. Re: Beast of the Dark Essence Nice pic! But what's "Deep Essence" and all the rest mean??
  9. Re: Why hasn't magic changed the world? Same reason technology took so long to change the world: too few people. You need buttloads of people bouncing ideas off each other to make something that's powerful enuf to change the world.
  10. Re: Need a language for your fantasy campagine? I shall have to examine it in detail when I have more time. Thank you for pointing this out.
  11. Re: Deities in Detail -- Brainstorming Heaven I would highly recommend inventing a separate diety for war. It has far too great an impact on human behavior to "slough off" on some other-wise occupied diety.
  12. Re: Making the Police Officer package deal more realistic I stepped in something?
  13. Re: World War II era: Dark Champions or Pulp Hero?
  14. Re: NPC's - one free in every box I'm so glad I subscribed to this thread. At some point, I will need to copy all of these ideas to a word processor document. For research purposes, of course.
  15. Re: Predators: who else found the 'Easter Egg'? A disguised grenade, of course. This is Dark Champions, after all. Seriously, what is meant by an Easter Egg in a book? I understand the term in relation to computer games, where something can be hidden unless a peculiar series of actions is taken. I do not see how such is even possible in a book. Could someone enlighten me, please?
  16. Re: World encyclopedia Always the best thing to do around paranoids. If you want more to worry about, remember that in Russian "red" is the same word as "beautiful." So they've taken over the beauty pagents!
  17. Re: World War II era: Dark Champions or Pulp Hero? Most WWII stories (esp. in the comics) are Pulp. Pulp stories have a "good vs. bad, no middle ground" sensibility. DC is all about "shades of gray," "making deals with the devil," and that type of feel. Though the DC book has better info on firearms, which are of paramount concern in WWII stories; that is, combat settings. Not quite so important for "home front" stories.
  18. Re: Guns on cards The basic concept goes back to the original Morrow Project (perhaps further; I do not personally know). That game had half-sized sheets with all the information for each gun. You were allowed to "photocopy for personal use only" as many copies as needed. A very convenient method - - - Hero Games needs something of the sort, IMHO.
  19. Re: Superhero idea: The Cycler You're repeating yourself redundantly again. Nice stuff in the zip file, BTW.
  20. Re: Here's Me I still want to know who Winny Kincaid, Koala Joe, Tugger, and Jackjumper are. Are you listening, oh Emuic Captain?
  21. Re: "Mundane" Magic Items If you add "Writes what is said, but only when commanded to," you will have the ultimate scribes' tool.
  22. Re: "Mundane" Magic Items That is so, so sick on so many levels.
  23. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas Briarfall: All thornbushes, roses, blackberries, etc. die instantly.
