I am fortunate to live in an era with a great deal of cultural diversity, that being said, some of my neighbors (correctly) equate "Holiday" with "Holy Day" and have noted that Americans set off fireworks on "Holy Days". As a result, Christmas, New Years, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and any other date that appears in red writing on the Calendar is greeted with fireworks -- usually at midnight.
