    Ok, they need to get their act together on error messages. When I backed up to the server select screen, it THEN told me I wasn't connected to the server. So, I went back in and finally made the damned character. They might pass the disconnect message on when you're trying to finalize the character, instead of a bogus server is busy message...

    An origin for The Blue Comet, stuck in Login Limbo, and curses to the 1023 character limit:

     

    "Map failed to start. The server is busy, please try again later."

     

    The Central Server was down. He wouldn't be able to use the Cosmic Map to telport back to Earth Sector. He'd have to do this under his own power, even if it killed him . . .

     

    Conrad Bariman had been plucked out of the trenches of World War I by an alien intellegence, offered great power and adventure beyond his imagining, in exchange for service to a peace keeping organization of the highest morals, the Comet Corps. He readily agreed to the bargain.

     

    The Corps infused him with the cosmic powers of the Blue Comet, an ancient alien artifact dating to the Big Bang. He used his immense physical gifts and powers for the betterment of many alien races in a galaxy far from the Milky Way. For years, he was happy.

     

    Until he discovered the Others were coming, their vanguard a vast destructive horde known as the Freeps. Barely escaping the destruction of HQ, he flew to Earth bearing a warning, burning out most of his power.

    Login server. I've been patched since way earlier in the day. It's just the sheer volume of people trying to grab names on the VIP server.

     

    I'm mainly logging the time out of boredom. Nothing out of the ordinary for a launch day, really. =)

     

    Edit: CoH still has by FAR the fastest patcher I've seen in an MMO.

    So, I was taking my Brute out for a spin last night. He'd hit 45 and I'd forgotten that you had to do a quest chain to unlock Patron Power Pools, so I started the Ghost Widow version of the chain. I was pretty unimpressed by the sheer beating he was taking with a full set of green SO enhancements slotted. Is it just that Longbows are pretty tough, or is /Dark Armor not that durable of a set? I could just be bad, too, but his powers aren't really that hard to grok. Seems like /Dark relies a bit too much on self healing, with the one regen power having a long cooldown.

     

    I'm not sure if I'm liking the damage ramp up fury mechanic solo, either.

     

    Maybe I just need to find the sweet spot in the settings for solo between taking enough beating to pump my damage up faster, and face planting.

    I guess I better finish exploit leveling my Brute! Of course, he's a villain, so this is to be expected.

     

    BTW, is there a firm release date yet? The loading screen mentioned an early something or other for tomorrow, so does that mean Issue 21 is coming out this week?

    What is MARTy?

     

    MARTy stands for Metric Activated Reward Throttle (Y? Because exploits are bad!)

     

     

    What is the goal of MARTy?

     

    The primary purpose of MARTy is to automatically detect and prevent exploitative behavior by constantly analyzing the rate at which players gain rewards in game. This applies to many different rewards such as INF and Experience.

     

    A secondary goal is to throttle only the worst offenders; those who exhibit truly exploitive behavior that ruins the game for everyone. If you trigger MARTy you are going to know that you are doing something abnormal and exploitive.

    I've been on my Dark/Dark Brute on Liberty, doing the cheesy AE power leveling thing so I can have a farmer to make some IOs. I think my blasters could really use some, since my typical attack chains exceed my endurance, and that's before counting toggles.

     

    Does anyone know a site that lists all of the IOs and IO sets? Paragon Wiki doesn't have one, the other wiki seems pretty out of date, and the link to a list from the Paragon wiki is an expired domain.

     

    I'll be on Muerto Oscuro on Liberty for a while today, going to plow through some levels. I'm up for doing something if I have an alt that can do it.

    Ok, here's a question for those who have altitis: What's the best archetype (as in best synergy, as I'm sure any combo is playable) for a Fire/Fire build? It seems like most of the "best" builds aren't from the matching primary and secondary sets, since there's always a differing set with better synergy. Given that there may not be a -/Fire or Fire/- that's ideal, what's the best archetype for playing a pure fire character? I was going to make JJF a SS/Fire tank, but decided against it. I'd rather have a pure fire build of some kind.

    I'm mostly on Liberty at the moment, working on my old, old guys and my Mastermind. Want to get him to 20 to unlock the villain epic archetypes.

     

    I've got a LOT of reading up to do with all the enhancement changes. Can the IOs be obtained via auction house (or w/e it's called in CoH), or do they have to be crafted by the character using them? I keep seeing recent mention on the CoH forums of perma-hasten. Is that back? Obtainable only with IOs, I take it? Or obtainable with SOs?(Found that info finally.)

    Villain Side: Contessa Winter

     

    I'm not sure which of these I'm going to end up playing. I need to figure out how things work again. I'll likely finish Sureshot, as he's 41.

     

    Edit: I've added a few more names of Liberty alts, some old, some new. I'm spazzing out again with altitis, like a kid in a candy store with all the new power/costume combos. I've put a few levels on all of my old alts, and made as many new alts over the last week or so.
