  1. Re: Bwahaha Villain's arena play

The question, how do you expect the players to win/play? And, besides just being a villain, what does your Bad Guy get out of keeping the girl anyways? If you're saying that the Bad Guy won't give up the girl even if they heroes win the game, then really, why take away the option of just going after him by force?

  2. Re: Superhero!

A couple Origins back, I was involved in a one-shot game similar to this. Here are some of the characters I remember...

Redshirt: Star Trek fan. Fairly competant martial artist, but had low defenses. Due to the power of a mystic "red shirt", he had the power to come back from the dead every 2 hours. Needless to say, he dies a lot...

People Person: Obsessed with Oprah. Could use characteristic Aid on herself and others, but it had to be in the form of self-help homilies and cliches. Minor Ego attack.

Barnraiser: Powerful brick. Complete and utter Amish pacifist.

Above Average Woman: WW2 experiment much like Captain America, only not so much. After all, she's only a woman...ladies just don't DO superheroing!

Speed Bump: Out of hero ID, a mild-mannered man who took care of his blind dog, but when duty calls, he had the power to be the ultimate speedster! Unfortunately, he then has his dog's blindness instead...

  3. Re: Order of the Stick

He's in the Lawful Good afterlife holding area. You're not implying that the forces of Law and Good have made an oversight all these years are you?

Why am I suddenly reminded of Harlan Ellison's short story "Hitler Painted Roses" all of a sudden?

  4. Re: Fifteen points of wealth is very justifiable

I had a concept for an immortal character (only about 150 years old or so) who was going to have about 2 points of Wealth, representing (hopefully) smart handling of finances throughout the years. Not multi-millionaire status by any stretch of the imagination, but enough to live comfortable on...and enough to help fund identity changes and covering of tracks when needed every couple of decades or so.

  5. Re: Tricks for a Triplicator?

    Get arrested.

That's right. Get arrested or walk around as a duplicator. Don't need to pay points for that, and boy will the character's enemies be surprised when #3 shows up.

The odd thing is, the guy doesn't triplicate until the original gets knocked out first (24 STUN). Duplicate #1 pops out fully while the original Recovers. If he gets knocked out again, out pops Duplicate #2.

And unfortunately, the GM has permanent custody of the character sheets so I can't post the stats. :thumbdown

  6. Re: Sonics - tired power, need new ideas

Sonics as Mind Control, ala a siren's song.

And Angar the Screamer from Marvel Comics was able to induCe visual hallucinations with his screams, so images/mental illusions.

    Summon animals (ultrasonic frequency).

Aid (song of inspiration, cat's purring [i always feel better when a cat is purring on me anyways])

    Dispel/Suppress radio or communications.

  7. Re: WSWYCK: Karaoke Night

Iceberg: Being a Golden Age character, karaoke would probably be over his head initially. He'd probably be true to his patriotic roots and just sing the Canadian National Anthem.

Osprey: Well, she has a slight problem. In her Hero ID, she can't talk, let alone sing. She can only really...squawk. And let's just say Sonic Scream + microphone = BAD IDEA!

Prospero: "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by the Proclaimers. He won't tell you why though.

Cascade/Ningyo: Just how well-stocked is the karaoke bar? She's very shy, but if the songbooks actually carried any Japanese numbers, she'd be more at ease (and hoping no one notices if she flubs the words). She'd probably do "Ultra Relax", the theme to Kodoma no Omocha (which I actually have a karaoke version of saved on my computer) :celebrate

The Midnight Angel: Looking for redemption, he'd do "Amazing Grace". Of course, if his human host Thomas Blackchurch is out instead and has any say, Thom would be doing stuff like "Closer" by NiN, Orgy's cover of "Blue Monday" or "Papercut" by Linkin Park.

Ingenue: "History Repeating" by Shirley Bassey or "The Rose" by Bette Milder. Hell, the world doesn't even have to be threatened to get her on any sort of stage!

  8. Re: "Not in the face, I'm a pretty man!"

What's the special effect? Is it just a black eye, bruise, or broken nose, or is it some kind of scarring or mystical effect?

For simple stuff like the former, a Hand-To-Hand Attack with a linked COM Drain (with a bit of reduced recovery) would work.

For the latter, particularly if they get so ugly that it would qualify them for Distinctive Features, link a Transform to it instead.

I know, I'm being pedantic again.

Standard punch to the face, really. Black eye, broken nose, bloody lip, swollen cheek...that sort of thing. Not looking for a (permanent) transform, just something that will take time to heal the aesthetics back up.

As the saying goes "That's gonna leave a mark..." :eg:

  9. So, I'm trying to design a COM drain that takes a while to recover from. Basically, it's for a potential villain who HATES "pretty people" and the drain will basically be linked to a punch to the face (and still does damage with the punch on top of the drain).

What would be a plausible way to design it, especially if hit locations aren't used?

  10. Re: Need Perjoratives!

I find the anti-super tenor of this thread offensive and disturbing. How would you feel if you had superpowers and people called you names like this?

I'd get me my superlawyer down on the case stat for a character defamation suit! :eg::ugly:

  11. Right, let me preface this by stating that due to the fact that we're "new to the group", the GM will be designing the actual character (complete with stats, powers, skills & talents) as opposed to my husband being the one making it. We're figuring the GM wants to know us as players first before we get to make our own characters (even though we've both played Champions before)...

The Beloved Hubby is cool with this as he's an easy-going sort of fellow. He'll be playing a martial artist sort (Dirty Infighting) who can triplicate himself. While he's come up with a couple of combat ideas (two of his selves attempt a double grapple while the third goes for a low blow as an example), what he's looking for are other possible tricks to use (ideally against Bricks, but he's open to suggestions) in combat.

I know things are a bit hamstrung without having an actual character sheet to look at. Hopefully, that will change by this weekend.

  12. Re: Help with a Mystic hero

Character-wise, why would a Shaman type need to know these skills?

    3 Bribery 14-

    3 Bugging 13-

    3 Bureaucratics 14-

I might suggest taking some magic/appropriate mythology knowledge skills

What's the background for this guy? It might help us figure out what needs to be added/changed/taken out...

  13. Re: How to handle: the super-information broker?

I'd expect KS:(various), Criminology, Computer Sciences, Forensics, and/or their own various contacts to be up the wazoo for starters for such NPCs.

And such NPCs probably do a good job of protecting their anoniminty as much as possible. Their help shouldn't come cheap and easy if you don't want the PCs to use them as a crutch.

Not to mention, the info they pass may not be correct (even sources have a bad day) all the time. And if the PCs overuse them, they could resent such constant intrusions and endangerment.
