  1. looking over all the stuff you need premade for a space game (weapons, computers, starships, etc.), what do you guys just assume to be the case? such as, do you really right the formula for an entire spaceship in the hero code or do you just tell the players: "your space ship guys such and such speed, has such and such weapons" blah blah blah?
  2. does anyone have some generic NPCs that i could borrow? i need some commoners. -Dave
  3. Re: need wolf template hey this worked perfectly
  4. hey all, i need a template for a wolf. i don't have the money to buy a bestiary, so i can't use the one out of that. so, if anyone has a wolf template link or something i could go to that would be great.
  5. Re: Tech/campaign idea: Bio-gel batteries you know, i think that's a brilliant point: wild apes shouldn't be able to shoot acidic gel from the pores in there skin. that would make them way to powerful. well said.
  6. Re: Multiform so everything over the character base cost is made up for in disads? that seems silly. it isn't even a power then.
  7. Re: Multiform so what about a character who is built with 150 and wants a 350pt form (aside from game balance issues) and another form with 200pts?
  8. i'm trying to figure out the cost of the other forms that comes with multiform. i understand that the most expensive form gets a number of Character Points equal to however many points the base form pays multiplied by 5 (i.e. 70pts = 350pts to work with for the most expensive alternate form). however, i don't know how many points the other forms get to work with. some help would be great.
  9. Re: Doubling Damage Question this does make sense. thank you so much. i was pounding my head against the floor trying to figure this out. so to clarify: THE BASE DAMAGE IS CONSIDERED TO BE WHATEVER THE WEAPON DOES IN DAMAGE, AND EVERYTHING ELSE (MARTIAL MANUEVERS, STR ABOVE MINIMUM FOR WEAPON, AND SKILL LEVELS) ARE ALL CONSIDERED ADDED TO BASE DAMAGE??? CORRECT???
  10. Re: Doubling Damage Question so extra damage classes bought for the weapon do increase THE BASE damage?? i'm trying to figure out what the base damage for a weapon is and if anything raises that number, such as buyinh extra damage classes.
  11. what does it mean when a killing attack does half a die of damage: 1 1/2 DC??
  12. alright, i need help determining the base damage for a weapon. i think it's STR dam + the weapon's dam. is this right??? so in a martial combat style that has a weapon element and a +1DC, does the +1DC count as the base?????
  13. Re: Building Intrugue Into a Game this definately helps, as well as the others. thank you so much. please post any other ideas. again, wow, and thanks!
  14. hey all. i have recently undertaken the responsibilities of GM (once again) and i'm needing a little help. here's the scenario for the game. I have a region of the world that has a festival for the crowning of the new Prince Regent, called simply Prince. when the heir of the thrown is 21, then the title of prince passes from the old prince to his son. (this explains why a prince waits as long as possible to have children, so his thrown is not stolen from him by his own.) at this time the other noble families are invited to the capital city for a week. now all these families are related to eachother and to the princes family. the group as a whole is called the Blood families (all their family names end with blood. the prince's family is called the Thornbloods, other families are the Moonbloods, Stonebloods, Halfbloods, Oldbloods, Venombloods, and Cherishbloods). now these blood families are all descendants of an emperor and his empire long gone, and they all want to have power, but it is the Thornbloods that have the best (to date) credentials for the thrown. and for the sake of peace the other bloods swear allegiance to him. SO, now their is to be a new prince and the families have been called together to celebrate/swear fealty during a week long festival. what i'm looking for is intruege to put in the game. what do these families want (beside just power for the sake of power)? what manipulations and backstabbing is going on behind the scenes? what interesting situations can i put the players in? how do these families go about getting what they want? when do they do it??? these are all things i need to get done before our game. a little help???
  15. Re: Looking For Info: Ameboid Aliens as a thought, you may consider having the Duplicate power to to represent the ability to replicate itself.
  16. Re: How much of "typical fantasy setting" actually intersects with "medieval europe"? The racism bit would likely be the Jews and Gypsies and other small, "factioness" racial groups that floated around the time period. The catholic church alongside the italian and french governments were all extremely prejudice towards the Jews.
  17. Re: Need Magic System Advice i've come up with another idea as i am fine tuning this system. i've decided that they're are only certain days in which you can meet with a deity or powerful mortal (like a devil or a powerful fairy). these days are on equinoxes and other astrological days, and on special days to the entity itself. the reason i have done this is because i like the idea of a mage stumbling across a secret and writing it down, but then having to hold out until the proper time to cash it in for spells. i love the idea of two mages battling out to see who goes first to present their secret.
  18. Re: Need Magic System Advice Alright, utilizing some tips that you guys gave me, i've come up with a mechanic for the secrets based magic system. it goes like this: Major Secret (Extremely Important Secret)=25pts. Average Secret (Very Important Secret)=20pts. Minor Secret (Important Secret)=15pts. Unimportant Secret=5 Known Only to Character +1 Known to Handful of People (2-7, including character) +3/4 Known to Small Group of People (50 or less, including character) +1/2 Known to Large Group of People (200 or less, including character) +1/4 Known to More Than 200 People +0 Known to More Than 300 -1 (and +1 for ever increment of a hundred) 1000 Years Old or More +2 500 Years Old or More +1 250 Years Old or More +3/4 125 Years Old or More +1/2 75 Years Old or More +1/4 74 Years Old or Less +0 to clarify, my rational for 200 or less people still being a +1/4 is because the mage community is only like 175 people or so. so, if a secret was known by only mages, such as the fact that mages exists, then it would still be of value. my rational for the age modifier is that the older a secret is, the more valuable it's uncovering would be. also, if a secret can stand the test of time, then it proves itself inherantly to be a trustworthy secret. thus, it's value would increase like a fine wine. so the mechanic works like building a power: if you have a major secret that was known by a small group of people and was 75 years old it would look like this: Major Secret (25pts.) X (1 + 1/2 [small group] + 1/4 [75 years old]) = 43.75 rounded up to 44. So a character with this secret could then make a power with a Active Cost (or should it be real???????) of 44 points. Does this make sense?? is it viable??? words of counsil please.....
  19. in my thread on building a unique magic system out of trading secrets in to powerful creatures or deities for spells, i posted this question: what is the limit that GMs put of the Active/Real cost of spells in their games. i have a group of guys that are new to the system, so they won't bug me to much up front, but once the get the hang of it they will really try to exploit the game. if i give them an inch now they'll take ten feet later in the game. so, i need help setting a good guideline for how much a character can spend on a spells. also, should there be a minimum a character has to spend on spells??? thanks for your help.
  20. Re: Improving Powers... sweet, i think i got it now.
  21. Re: Need Magic System Advice what's the usual Active/Real cost of spells in your games??? i am trying to set a game limit and need to know what would be good.
  22. Re: Improving Powers... but my question is, how do you calculate how many points you need to raise a power with advantages and limitations on it?? how do i calculate that??
  23. Re: Improving Powers... even in the par about spending XP it doesn't give you the formula that Lord Liaden put
