  1. Re: Venture Brothers Hero? Anyone want to take a stab (pun intended) at Brock Samson? "Yeah. We're doin' this."
  2. Re: Venture Brothers Hero? I like the idea that his hand and Phantom Limb's, er, limbs were sent 40 years into the future. The scene with all the limbs sitting around watching TV was hilarious. Naturally, Hank's theory, while side-splittingly funny, was just absolutely nuts.
  3. Re: Venture Brothers Hero? Edited and updated Dr. Girlfriend and Dr. Orpheus's character sheets with more information. Feedback, anyone?

  8. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Another quote from the "Seared Champions" style game of Vendetta Rhapsody. We're all at the Third Rail (neutral ground). Flashburn (an enemy super) walks in and begins heckling Techny. Flashburn: Haven't you seen the news? We're buddies now! Technicality: Really? Then let's step outside and get better acquainted. (cracks knuckles) Flashburn: Uh, actually I like it better in here. Techny: That's what I thought you'd say.
  9. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Also from Vendetta Rhapsody: Our heroes are relaxing at the Third Rail when Flashburn (one of the bad guys) decides to come over and sneer at Technicality. FB: "You sleep in that armor? Well, you better start." Techy: "How's the jaw?" FB: "It's fine. I'm healing pretty quick. In fact, I won't be feeling any pain real soon now." Techy: "I think I can guarantee it." Rest of the Third Rail:...damn. FB: *Quickly chugs down drink for dutch courage*
  10. Re: A Dark Future for Dark Champions Good god. Get this thing published so I can own a copy!
  11. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Technicality got to do her first presence attack in last night's Vendetta Rhapsody game: "So far I've shown some restraint. Back off now or I'm going to Lose. My. Patience!"
  12. Re: THE Uber Team Optimus Prime - THE Leader, one of the most inspiring leader-types out there Simon Archard (I would also accept Sherlock Holmes) - the strategist & smart cookie (avoiding the obvious choice of Batman) Nightcrawler (I would also accept El Zorro) - the swashbuckler, he who has the skill AND the style! Hal Jordan - moral compass + the one true ringbearer Supreme (I would also accept The High) - for raw power that cannot be denied (avoiding the obvious choice of Superman) Sabretooth (Age of Apocalypse-era) - for aggression and fighting skill

    Random powers?

Re: Random powers? Hugh Neilsen, I wasn't trying to list them in chronological order, but thanks for mentioning it. Actually, the point of my post is that there's a "unifying theme" that these characters can claim to explain their sometimes bizarre combinations of powers.

    Random powers?

Re: Random powers? There's actually a comic book trope that can tie together wildly disparate powers with a single special effect (given that you have a broader view of the definition of a "special effect") - the combination character. Examples from comics include: The Super-Adaptoid Rogue Mimic The Super-Skrull Amazo All of the above characters have odd combinations of powers - in the case of Mimic and The Super-Skrull, both have the powers of an entire team of heroes! This concept is what I consider to be a broad "special effect" category all its own, really, given that the Super-Skrull himself is a rather iconic character, supported by Rogue's Ms. Marvel abilities and more recently Amazo in the animated Justice League.
  15. Re: Dark Champions the Anime Series Bean shows up in the Gunsmith Cats manga quite a bit, Roadbuster and all. He is an important part of the Gunsmith Cats universe.
  16. Re: Need Help with a Name Vanguard (early career): Gunmetal - metallic brick, body is covered in riveted metal plates (Thing analogue) Pulse - electromagnetic blaster, fires electric blasts and can levitate magnetically (Human Torch analogue) Gatecrasher - teleporter (Mr. Fantastic analogue) Bonsai - shrinking martial artist with plant control powers (inspired by Mattingly, Invisible Girl analogue)
  17. Re: Need Help with a Name That's actually quite good. I may go with that. He could even call himself "Max" for short.
  18. I'm creating a new superhero for a local Champions game, and I'm having a difficult time coming up with a good name - hopefully, my fellow HERO fans here on the boards can help me out. I'm sure there are LOTS of very creative people out there! Okay, so about the character: I was inspired to create someone like the Super-Skrull - a combination of a team's main powers in one person. The basic idea is that a four-hero team called Vanguard were hit by Dr. Darque's "cosmo-beam" and had their powers duplicated in an artificial lifeform. So, the PC has the powers of four superheroes (well, Vanguard was early in its career, so these powers are not as developed or powerful as the team is now) and was created by a mad scientist. The first thought I had was that his name would be something a mad scientist would come up with. Second, I was thinking that, like the Super-Skrull, it would be some kind of 70's-style name. The only thing I can come up with is "Multi-Man." Help, please? p.s. - The PC's creation not only took place 20-25 years ago (different culture then), there's plenty of reasons for him to adopt a new name NOW, at the beginning of his superhero career. Some thoughts I've had (although none of these really sound "right" if you know what I mean): Chimera, Nemesis, Patchwork, Four-man (pronounced like "foreman")
  19. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Quotes from Session 12 of Shadows Angelus: "Who ordered the Star Destroyer?" - Tyger "You're getting down? Give me a PS: Funk roll." - GM "Want their penis size?" - GM to Tyger, who rolled a 3 on his PER roll. "They must've got those grenades from the lowest bidder." - GM, when grenades failed to injure Hemelshot. "He IS LAPD!" - GM to Tyger, after Tyger threatens to kill a perp. "Clade Season!" "Karouk, you said he was down for the count." - Hemelshot "He kept counting!" - Yiska Karouk "You see two unconscious men on the ground in front of you." - GM "I get out my condoms." "They're wearing asian dresses, that means they're short." "I don't want porn." - Tyger "Pod person!" - Hemelshot to Tyger
