  1. Re: Blocking or Deflection

The way i GM it is you can block any ranged attack that could be resonibly blocked by 'normals' in other words under 5th ed missile deflection 'thrown objects' anything faster than that i require the player to buy deflection.

For example a sniper may have 5 ranged combat levels but without a power theirs no way he can dodge or deflect a bullet it just dosent make sense.

But a jedi or a telekenetic that can stop bullets with their mind... sure if they by deflection to represent this.

  2. Re: List Your CO Nemesises!

My main is the thunder from down under an aussie brick. because australians have a friendly rivalry with new zealand (kinda like the friendly rivalry between canada and usa) i thaught a newzealand villain was most suitible. also there is ongoing sheep jokes on both parts as wool and lamb are a major part of both australia and nz's econamy. so with all that in mind my nemisis is.

Weresheep the bastard offspring of a new zealander and a sheep

  3. Re: Poll On New Zones

I voted Modern Urban being pretty much the closest thing that could bring in Vibora Bay...

I'm hoping they do something significant with Dark Champions, so we can have Hudson City get its proper due...

    Dark Urban = Hudson City

  4. Re: 6E: Contagious Disease?

if i was gming and somone whanted to sticky more than once id say you can for x2 the number of people can be stickyed by another for +1/4.

    so +0 1 extra person

    +1/4 2 extra

    +1/2 4 extra

    +3/4 8 extra

.etc i see that this is a resonable ruling because its in the spirit of similar advantages

  5. im thinking of running a new sci-fi game in hero system 6th ed, i was thinking somthing with alot of psionics and also horror type themes. for it i was looking at changing the characteristics to suit the game better i want some opinions on the changes:

    STR - as normal

DEX - as normal (except it dosent determine initiative and costs 1pt)

    CON - as normal

    INT - as normal

EGO - as normal (mostly see PRE attacks)

PRE - as normal except PRE attacks different*

SPD - used to determine order of combat & roll vs roll for held actions (in heroic games where speed only differes 2-4 i prefer not to use it so instead im using SPD like dex if it only determined combat order and dex vs dex offs for taking actions)

OCV/DCV/OMCV/DMCV - as normal (mostly except PRE attacks)

    PD/ED as normal

WD - (will defense) defense against "real" mental attacks e.g. fear (PD of the mind)

MD - defense against psychic attacks (like ED of the mind)

    REC - as normal

MREC - mental recovery (REC rate for mind & courage)... id like a better name

    END - as normal

    BODY - as normal

Mind - the "BODY" of the mind (temp mental breakdown if 0, insanity if -value)

    STUN - as normal

COUR - Courage stun for the mind

    * PRE attacks works like using STR for attacks 1 die per 5 val .etc except it uses EGO instead of CON, WD instead of PD, Mind instead of Body and COUR instead of STUN.

also when purchasing psionic powers its a +0 AVAD to attack the mental stats instead of normal ones eg. killing attack can be vs rMD and deal damage to Mind & Courage instead. obviously getting defences for both is relativly easy thus the +0 for example slippery mind for rMD/rWD instead of combat luck. cybernetic brain implants insted of armor... you get the idea.

  6. in the character creation guidelines it mentions say for standard superheroic that the defence is 20-25 DEF/12-18r DEF. my question is does the 25 DEF inlude the 18r or are they seperate in other words if i built a birck to the max defence for the power level would he have a total of 25pd 18 of it is resistant or does he have 18rPD & 25 PD for a total of 43 DEF. i did notice that the max dice average damage is 49 stun, 14 body so to me the 2nd figure sounds more right but id like a confrimation.

  7. Re: What sorta rig are you running?

AMD Athlon x64 Dual Core 7750+ (about 3ghz)

    Nividia 9800 GT, 1 Gig

    4Gb DDR 2 Ram

    Windows XP 64bit

on a side note my motherboard is Gigabyte which means realtech onboard sound which means no sound in 64bit win XP as a resault ikm forced to make the change to vist 64bit which i will be doing soon as the sound will work in that.

also pentiums suk and nvidia may as well not have a compeditor its that weak

  8. Im looking at building a barrier that is like prison bars. what this implys is that it stops movment but not ranged attacks because you can shoot through the gaps (though it probobly offers cover). so what kind of limitation do you think it would be for a barrier to provide cover only, not stop attacks my guess is 1/2 lim

  9. Re: THE ULTIMATE BASE -- What Do *You* Want To See?

I always thaught after a vehicle gets to a certain size it should be buit as a base instead due to the size & complexity as well as living quarters and the like so i wouldent mind seeing somthing for mobile bases my examples would be. a massive navel vessal like a man-o-war or a space ship with 100s of crew like the enterprise in next gen. because although mobile they are very clumsy and i would argue have 0 dex anyways.

  10. Re: Omcv 1?

as a gm i wouldent allow my players to sell back OMCV at all and would only allow them to sell back DMCV if i knew there was guna be mentalists in my game sometime or another. but if your gm is a by the books guy you can exploit for points by all means do. and in fact have a look under enhanced senses and consider selling back your sense of smell/taste and touch.... you dont really need them. when was the last time your gm said make a touch perception roll?

  11. Re: Slowing down Character advancement

I have always felt that the no. of points given should vary based on the "feel" of the game and the power level. if the characters are 25/25 then 1-2 points is alot if the characters are 200/150 then 1-2 points is barly advancment at all. in standard superheroic i tend to give what the book says. ususally ends up being 2-3 points per character then ill somtimes give a character a perk based on story progression. such as contacts and favours, occasionally other things.

  12. Re: Hero/Fate/Karma points for Hero System

All of the games inmy group use what we call team champion points (TCPs) only cause of a in-joke but they could be hero points or karma or whatever. we wanted to do two things first make it so disadvantages ment somthing we were sick of players having to take disads to be as powerful as everyone else and as a result taking superfisial disadvantages like hates orcs in a game dominated my orc foes. and 2nd wanted players to be able fudge rolls in dramatic situations each TCP allows changing the resault of a single die by 1 for instance if on an attack roll you rolled 1, 1, 3 you could use 2 TCPs to change the 3 to a 1 and get a crit.

TCPs are awarded whenever a disadvantage occours for instance the character who hates orcs wouldent recive points just for killing orcs cause thats what is expected anyway but they will recieve points if they kill a half-orc adviser to the king or recklessly endanger themselves just for the chance to kill orcs. that kind of thing
