  1. Re: Imaginary Weapons

Has anyone considered just buying an attack power with a limitation "illusionary damage - ego roll or when out of combat reveals damage is not real(-1/2)"

You mean like something a little like this:

1/2 D6 RKA Against Mental Defense (+1.5), No Range (-1/2), Illusionary damage - ego roll or when out of combat reveals damage is not real(-1/2)

    Or more simply:

1/2 D6 RKA Against Mental Defense (+1.5), No Range (-1/2)

    Or Even:

1/2 D6 RKA Against Mental Defense (+1.5), No Range (-1/2) PLUS 6D6 Illusions, Only to simulate a critical hit (-1/4), Automatic breakout on 1st try (-1/4).

  2. Re: What?? Bruce Wayne isn't Batman???

I guess in this universe DC doesn't have lawyers or care about some vigillante dressing up as one of their characters beating people up?

This in itself could be a great Hunted ( or Watched)

I have a character in my Universe that believes he is the Lone Ranger reincarnated. So that's his theme, costume, etc.

    Well, Paramount Pictures sued...

Then he realized that "Keemosabee" isn't Trademarked. :stupid:

But he still has to be careful:

Policeman: "So, Lone Ranger, what's your opinion-"

Keemosabee: "I am legally obligated to ask you not to call me that."

I love C.L.O.W.N, even had a Hero apply for membership. His pledge prank was putting up signs directing people to the Arizona State Garbage dump, Also known as the Grand Canyon, The park was wondering why the heck all the garbage trucks were showing up and wanting to know where to unload

Also like Neutral Ground & Voice, There are several other good characters from the enemies books that haven't showed up as well.

I once set a Campaign at NEUTRAL GROUND!!!!!!

(The PCs were the ones charged to keep order)

    I LOVE that place.

I have the old supplement still, But I would LOVE  an even minimal 5th ed update.

There must be LOADS of such characters that Steve could update without actual supplementation. How about in HD?

  3. Re: Imaginary Weapons

EGO+ might be good enough to present a realistic weapon' date=' but EGO+10 [i']might[/i] be necessary to have it actually strike the target. If it doesn't actually do any damage, there's no need for the extra affect.

All in all, if used for a bonus on a PRE Attack, this is likely to add only 1d6 (maybe two, if the effect is good) and will only affect a single person.

Other than PRE Attacks, what will this be used for (or is this just a trick you want to do with a normal Mental Illusion)?

Correct: I am thinking of Mental Illusions with a limitation of "Weapons only".

The character is only now discovering the power. It might do damage later, but for now - none.

Let me try to be more specific with my questions:

How high a roll does one need to present the illusion to the target that an "Energy Sword" summoned from the ether has cut off the target's arm?

I am concerned with the instant that the "sword" actually "cuts off the arm."

I realize that an instant later, the target will realize that his arm is still there.

Perhaps there is even a perception of pain :angst:- even though there is no stun damage.

Is there a mininum amount one must roll for a perceived (though not believed) illusion?

    -Or-

Are all Mental Illusions automatically perceived?

  4. I'm trying to build an "Imaginary weapon" power.

The character makes a weapon that is not real and does no damage.

It appears real and causes a momentary illusion of major (or even possibly fatal) damage. Then the victim can immediately notice that he isn't hurt.

    (Good for Presence Attacks though);)

    So Here are the Questions:

How much (or little) die of Mental Illusions should be bought to cause an effect that is only momentary?

    Would only 2D6 do it?

I can't recall if you need to roll 1xEGO for the victim to perceive the illusion.

  5. Re: Dust Raven

Mind controlling the influential economists or even the bulk of American investors may seem like a good idea, but overinflated stocks always crash eventually. That's why the internet bubble burst. I would like to make a company become solidly successful in a superhumanly short time period (think Microsoft). How would I do this?

I think you have the Idea here.

inflated stocks crash and Mental Powers only last so long if you stop spending endurance. (So put it on charges, maybe?)

  6. Re: Hero Character Portfolio -- What Do *You* Want To See?

I am not much of a market for anything.

I'm so poor that I have not yet purchased  :weep:

    :hail:FrEd or even

    :eek:sidekick!

I Love a good Character Sheet.

I once found a great Excel sheet somewhere to download, Where I can't say :doi:.

I go so far as to use actual Psych books for the personailty stuff. So that's good.

It might be better as a freebie.

Though if it will save me time :eg: I might actually buy it.

(When I actually have time to game again) :(

  7. Re: Multiple Secret IDs

If powers are only i hero Id then turning into these two people is a limitation.

Make it simple 20pt Phys lim turns into 2 non combat 175pt chracters who have a mind independant of Firestorms (GM discretion as to actions of one of the characters )

Must willingly combine for Instant change, voila one 350pt character who gets an easy 20pt disad at no extra cost.

Vorsch's idea is certainly the simplest.

What Lord Liaden relates from TUV is interesting.

-I had considered splitting the cost between the characters, but thought the limitation I described earlier was more fair.

I am not certain about the 1/1 and 1/5 (I am still lacking FRED)

With 4th ed (BBB), I think the first was 1/1 and the 2nd 1/5.

Maybe your GM could figure them both as 1/5?

It's an unusual concept, so your GM should DEFINITELY be involved in the construction.

  8. Re: Multiple Secret IDs

I have actually put a lot of thought into this

(as a geek rules lawyer only though. I have yet to playtest such a character)

My take on it is to set the combined form as a multiform.

Then both of the other forms must buy it with my house limitation:

    Requires other character

Both must cooperate for the power to work.

The limitation value is 1/2 for every character required after the first

(thus your two would have a 1/2 limitation on their multiform)

Greater limitations are for entire teams joining into one form - ala Captian Planet or Psi-Force

My age is showing isn't it?

Let me know how it works out!

  9. Re: Passenger Damage

What rules do you guys use for damage to passengers when a small vehicle takes damage?

Try simple knockback into the dashboard.

Then the question remains, how to figure the amount of KB?

It figure from how much speed is still in the vehicle when it is stopped suddenly.

That same amount of inertia is then applied to the passenger.

    +ouch+

  10. Re: How would you write up the following power?

I think there are some other things they can all do as well. Couldn't they Astral Project at one time? I haven't seen them do it in a long time, though. Or was that just Prue?

    It was Just Pru.

I also like the cool traps they set with the crystals. Entangle? With Damage Shield?

I figure Force Wall with Backlash.

  11. Re: How would you write up the following power?

And also there is a special recipe for each type of (and sometimes specific) demon. Probably need to compound the Focus limitation to incorporate the Book of Shadows into the mix. Sometimes' date=' they do get the reagent list from another source. But it's usually... "I'll check the Book of Shadows for a vanquishing potion." Maybe that could be a required Incantation. :)[/quote']

Glad you all like my Idea :D:eek:

Maybe the Demoan Disadvantages should read specifically, like:

    "Banished by standard Anti-demon potion"

    "Banished by potion containing wolfsbane"

    "Banished by potion containing Newt"

    etc

The potion could just be a special effect if you like.

  12. Re: How would you write up the following power?

I want to rethink the DC level of the RKA.

You see, Charmed Demons have a tendency to explode if you simply stab them in the right place.

So I would reduce the RKA to 2d6 (and lower the average Demon's Body to 5).

Then when the Demon reaches -5 they blow up.

Or a Demon Physical Disad: "Blows up when 10 Body is taken"

  13. I too would use an RKA. (Cole was a VERY special case)

(It was explained that his ability to Love made him un-demon-like enough to come back.)

    4D6 RKA

Only works against specific demon type. (These girls had to learn new recipes EVERY week!!) (-2)

NND (Not being that type of Demon.) (+1)

The Area effect Hex is right. (+1/2)

    Throwing is what?? -1/4??

    ***The Power of Three***

  14. Another thread reminded me of a character In a campaign I ran with a rule conundrum I never truly settled.

The hero could absorb Mental Class attacks and put the points into STR and CON. I allowed the "as a defense" adder.

    So here's the poser:

Would it defend against Mind Scan??

    My thoughts:

    1) Yes (Defense is Defense)

    2) a) No (It's not an attack power)

    B) No (wouldn't he seem like a psionic black hole? -and therefore be noticable?)

By the by, he also Transfered Opponent's INT and EGO and moved them to STR and CON.

    Mentalists hate this guy :-)

    Your Thoughts guys..?

I'm getting the same impression from the first post in this thread.

When I GM I use the Limit EXCEPT on Psych. It encourages more character depth.

  16. Did he say $10!!

    Yahoo!

I am looking foward double to this now!

I was too playtest it, but technical difficulties prevented it.

(I think Foxbat rigged my E-mailbox)

I'll be able to teach my kids to play!

Now if I can just find the time...

It cost 15 points per DC and worked against a new chart of physical control effects instead of the Mind Control Chart, because it was not affected by the target's psychology.

When Aaron's Strike Force Campaign was published as a supplement, a character with a possession ability did not use this power in his sheet.

But I still have a son of this power in my House Rules. It is a +1/2 Advantage to Mind Control and has a Stop Sign.
