Re: Your "2005" Pet Gaming Projects
Hee, hee! I know what I'll be doing (when I'm not studying for the bar): Regency HERO!

Re: Longest Running Thread EVER
The circles under the eyes get darkerOMG. Me, too. It doesn't matter how much sleep I get, either. If it weren't for Lancome eye cream, I don't know what I'd do!

Re: Longest Running Thread EVER
Naturally.Though I do hope now with Napoleon gone we won't be reduced to fighting, ugh, "AMERICANS"!? Thank God I didn't have to serve against them, who has time to deal with uppity gnats?
Where did you serve? I was in the North Atlantic and Indian Ocean.
Now I know how to get to your character -- Americans!

Re: Regency HERO Resources
Gotcha under GURPS 1793: "the Secret League of Adventurers."Whoops! Should have clarified that I meant the linked resources in that page, which are of particular use to gamers!

Excellent stuff - one of my favourite eras for gaming!Mine, too.

Re: PRIMUS source book?
If you plan to use it' date=' you should probably surf her site for ideas; it's obviously something she keeps coming back to, since there's just a ton of useful doodads in there...AlHazred has my number -- I so heart PRIMUS. I mean, when we got our spiffy Okidata color LED printer, the first thing I did was print out the Golden Avenger Keith Curtis drew for me!

PS: thanks for all the encouraging words, guys! I'm plugging away on Regency HERO (and that pesky law thing - one more semester left!) right now and can't wait 'til the time comes to work on PRIMUS.
-
Re: Interaction Skills
PPS - and let me add' date=' it was pretty funny for the whole group as her character pulled my character down the main street by his ear to the church...[/quote']OMG -- I'd completely forgotten that incident! That was one of my favorite moments in the game.

Re: New PRIMUS teams
I'm enjoying what I've read! Do keep posting.
To respond to your question, I think it really depends on the overall power level of the villains, as well as the turn you want the game to take. If it's more combat oriented, more assault agents; if it's more investigative (as your game seems to be), then more intelligence agents. The way I designed both investigative and assault agents is that neither character type would be bored in game -- investigative agents have some combat skills, assault agents have some investigative skills.

Re: Lady May Chiltren
Shelley thanks for your comment, I would like to take this chance to compliment you on your Regency site. And if I had made her the wife of an Earl, I would of used your status chart, but I came up with the Courtsey title to refect that fact that daughters and any sons of the after the first, while of the proper lineage were considered legally as commoners and generally were given the title as courtsey:)G

Thank you! You made my morning. Now that the second year of law school is nearly behind me (yeah! One more paper!) I'm settling down to work on RH before the last year starts in August.
Actually -- technically -- everyone but the titled lord himself was a commoner. Even the son-and-heir was until he ascended to the title!

Re: Lady May Chiltren
Fun character! The weight is on the rail-thin side, but not completely unrealistic. It's the write-ups that have the women at 5'7 and 105 pounds that crack me up.

Re: Gaming Historical Zeitgeists
Regency HERO ("RH") is a MS in progress that should be finished by December....the rudiments of what a RH game are like can be viewed at my 1793 website (for a GURPS version -- http://mactyre.net/shelley/1793 ) or at the RH site -- http://mactyre.net/archives/regency/ -- though the actual book covers RPing from 1775-1820, not just the Regency.

I primarily run historical games...[snip]Gah! And you're in Portland?! Interested in playtesting Regency HERO in a few months?

Re: Things We'd Like To See:PRIMUS
By the way, Shelly, we both have been to your site, especially since doing a lot with PRIMUS in our games... I love all the background you have on the SA and the GA... very cool. Of course, we have made a few changes, but then, who doesn't? I just thought I'd add, since few people have complimented you in this, that I AM hoping to see the awesome backgrounds for the SA that are on your site. You have done a great job so far!
Oh, you sweet thing, you! You made my evening.
And when PRIMUS ultimately comes down the pike, everyone will be hearing about it; I love suggestions.

Re: Things We'd Like To See:PRIMUS
I'd agree with the gadget pool except that it'd need a fairly high pool size. Not so much to pay for the gadgets' date=' but to allow sufficient active point limitations. I'd need to see what kind of tech PRIMUS has available; if there is lots of stuff of the "Many ads/many disads" type, a gadget pool might not be viable.[/quote']In PRIMUS -- and for Agent level games -- I swear by brownie points. (In the very cool PRIMUS ebook and a few places mentioned on the website.) It's also not a bad way to work things when the Avengers/agents are NPCs; easy for the GM to pick and choose what equipment to have on hand.

(Having way too much fun with the little smilie icons)

Re: Disads/Perks/Talents
It sounds like one of the resources you're looking for could be The Master List of Limitations. Maintained on the website of the Global Guardians PBEM' date=' this is an extensive compilation of fan-generated custom Psychological, Physical and Social Limitations to spice up your character Disadvantages. Great source of roleplaying ideas. [/quote']Lord Liaden to the rescue! That's the one I was thinking of.

Re: Disads/Perks/Talents
Oh, you know. Real life and stuff. Actually, my first job out of college was as a webmaster, and I never wanted to work on webpages when I got home. After I quit and did other things, I finally started updating again.
And frankly, I got really sick of everyone telling me I wasn't doing the links the way they wanted me to. "You should organize by category." "You should give descriptions." "You should rank the sites." What do I look like, Yahoo!? Anyway, I figured they could maintain their own *!^& links if they so desired.

Re: Disads/Perks/Talents
Doesn't Worldmaker host that at his PBEM domain? (Oh, to be the queen of the HERO links again!)

Re: Things We'd Like To See:PRIMUS
I'd like to see a couple of things regarding this - either one or several: [snip]Those are great!

Re: Things We'd Like To See:PRIMUS
Which is why I thought there'd be a Golden Avenger for every Federal District Court (http://www.law.emory.edu/FEDCTS/), and anywhere with a "major" presense should have more than one (New York would have at least one more, as well as Washington DC, Millenium City, Los Angeles, etc, etc). It should be an indication of "how bad things get" when you see more than one Golden Avenger handling a problem.
Silver Avengers are the local guys (although I chuckle at distributing them along federal courts -- I can just see Silver Avengers PO'ed that they're stuck watching oral arguments); there's only one GA. There isn't a major power difference, esp. when you factor in equipment.

Re: Things We'd Like To See:PRIMUS
If these guys could take the megavilains and theres alot of them 100+ then they would kinda outshine PCs.
Yep -- and that's a great way to make the PCs hate PRIMUS, fast. But I don't think there should be more than around 15 or so. For one thing, it would be too expensive; for another, there needs to be a novelty factor.
-Shelley
-
Re: Things We'd Like To See:PRIMUS
I wanna see the Golden Avenger be actually built on a decent point total. No more of this "All the NPC heroes get built on 500 or less" BS.I love it! MP, you're a gamer after my own heart.
