  1. Re: This Power Armor suit [shas'o R'myrs]

Personally, I would *never* allow a vehicle mech as the fighting 'togs of a superhero. The cost break is just too much for play balance. I have seen it done, and in fact was awarded the Gold Brick (Oz -munchkin reference) for a tricked out vehicle/mech build and I think it stinks of smelly foot cheese when put in a "regular" superhero game.

The image is just that, an image, just because it looks really big does not mean it has to be 10-30 feet tall and weigh in at 55 tons. It could be an even 8 with 1200 mass. That is oh say 1 level of growth and DI. My advice just build it as an OIF (or OHID if you don't want the GM to screw with your powers too much.)

    YMMV

of course, I am a plumber too, it is just that 600+ points is an awful lot of character development. Remember you have everyman skills, and in a superheroic game not everyone has 100+ points of skills. 35 or so plus MA if needed is generally considered more than enough. After all, not every member of Testament is going to fly the team vehicle, so not every character should be able to. All modern forces diversify because it makes them more effective.

But, just so you know...Foxbat would clean his clock.

I gotta agree he is skill heavy in ways that don't exactly help him and do not look in concept (all of those TFs for example) and Slight of Hand.

Perhaps instead of spending AS much as you want on a character you could pare him down to lean fighting strength and shift "some" of those points into things like more STR, one more point of SPD, and Combat Luck-like Damage Reduction (there is a power written up for one that requires a skill roll and you can't use it while surprised, etc.

You might get a stronger character on fewer points, I think a 350-400 pointer is possible.

  4. Re: Who homages the Watchmen or those the Watchmen homaged?

IME it's harder in a game to convey' date=' or even quantify, what makes Batman, Captain America, or Rorshach seem cool in comics or (better) movies: their presence, intimidation, force of will, power of command or leadership. How much you can lift or how many dice of damage you can throw seems to be easier for most people to grasp as part of a game.[/quote']

However, all of these characters share a HERO problem: they are more expensive than a solid gold elephant.
