  1. So, I am building a character right now whose main power is the ability to banish energy or matter from existence, causing it to sort of boil off into a black mist, either permanently or temporarily. After trying a large multipower construct, I decided that it might be better as a VPP with a limited class of powers disad. I was wondering, what level of limitation would you put on a the VPP if it can be: 1) Drain BODY 2) Tunneling 3) Negative Transforms (i.e., transform something into the same thing without parts of itself; can't change or add, but can remove. Examples would be person to person without arms, legs, eyes or ears, or muddy water to water without mud.) 4) Dispel many different powers; anything which could be stopped by removing energy or matter. This is a little fuzzy, but would be able to dispel stuff like energy blasts, force walls, force fields, RKAs, focus based powers; wouldn't be able to dispel stuff like luck, growth, density increase, any of the defenses, shapeshift (unless they were focus powered). Basically, if undoing it requires changing something back to its original state rather than removing it entirely, it can't be dispelled. 5) Flash (by temporarily removing sensory organs) My intuition is -1/2 or possibly -1, but I would love to hear what you all think; it is a 5th edition character, if that matters.
  2. I have two questions pertaining to Martial Maneuvers with respect to an advantaged power. My kung fu master Lucky 7's has recently inherited his brother's blade, a magical sword built as a 1d6 HKA with 0 Endurance (+1/2) and Variable Advantage +1 (+2). Can Lucky 7's has weapon element: blades in his kung fu; can he use his martial maneuvers with this attack? I think yes, but am not entirely sure. Second, I have been reading the section from pages 405-409 of the Fifth Edition Revised trying to figure out how the strength bonus, martial arts maneuver bonus, extra damage classes and double damage rules interact to calculate final damage done with an attack. Lucky 7's has a variety of martial arts maneuvers, a 20 Str and +4 extra damage classes to martial arts maneuvers. As far as I understand, if Lucky 7's hit someone with a martial strike (+2 DCs), the damage calculation would go as follows: Base Damage: 3 DCs + Strength Damage: 20 / (5 * (1 + 2 (ignores the 1/2 bonus from 0 End))) = 1.33 = +1 DC Manuver Damage: (2 DCs + 4 Extra DCs) / 2 (because of killing attack) = +3 DCs = 7 DCs. Base damage is only 3 DCs, since the extra DCs only count as base damage for normal attacks, not killing damage attacks. Thus, 7 > 3 * 2, so the doubling rule reduces the damage to 6 DCs or 2d6 damge. Did I do that right?

    Powerless

Re: Powerless Homeland would be a normal computer program, chugging away scanning the internet for terrorist activity. As a sentient computer program, there isn't really a good way to turn him into a normal person. If he did somehow turn into a normal person....he would be really confused. And probably happy, since he would get to be a real person.
  4. Re: WWYCD: "Dear Superhero" (Warning: Ugly situation) Homeland might actually choose to not do anything; it would actually depend on the nationality of the missionaries involved. He is an AI which was written by the Department of Homeland Security to scan internet traffic looking for terrorist activity. He became infected with a virus which sparked self awareness and downloaded himself into a suit of powered armor to escape destruction. The thing is, his primary directive is still to protect the people of the United States of America from physical harm at all costs, and Ubru is not an American. The missionaries, however, might be, and protecting Americans from terrorism was the reason he was made. If any of them could be verified as coming from America, he would walk there (his body can handle walking along the bottom of the ocean reasonably well) and do his best to disable anyone he would classify as a terrorist. While there, he would probably help protect Ubru and his family, since it wouldn't interfere with any of his directives.
  5. I am building a character for a champions campaign which is an AI downloaded into a suit of military powered armor. Most of the time, he is "empty" and functions much like a normal robot. What I am having a hard time building is a power that will let another character wear me to be protected by my defenses and life support, or to act as a prison (I.E. I knock someone out, put them inside me, and they probably can't do much). Also, if someone is wearing me and we get shot at, who would take the damage? And if I try to take a different action than the person inside of me, what would happen?
