1. Re: The October Eight competition I'm posting this to get Bob and Bill's opinions. I never post stuff at this stage - it's my roughest sketch of the idea, well before it gets any polish, so please view it as such, but I thought it may be fun to combine both of your characters in on one big ol' fight scene. Let me know if you're violently opposed to the idea - or indeen if you have any other thoughts! ROUGH!
2. Re: The October Eight: Artwork Thanks for the kind words everyone! This is the final colour version of The Foo's Ms. Belladonna, I hope you like her Mark! The October Eight; One of Eight: Ms Belladonna, created by The Foo Original submission details here: http://forums.champions-online.com/showthread.php?t=114696 Please remember, closing date for submissions is not until the end of September, and the submissions thread is here: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php/81640-The-October-Eight-competition
3. The October Eight This year, being busier for me than at the same time last year, the actual drawing and painting of the October Eight winners will take place throughout this month and the next. The competition is not closed! Applications are still accepted (in this thread here: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php/81640-The-October-Eight-competition ) until the end of September. By doing it this way, I will perhaps be able to do more than Eight pieces. What I'll be doing is posting the black and white artwork, then after a period of a few days where the character's creator can get in touch with any suggestions / requests / moans I'll start on the colouring. This will hopefully mean that the 'winners' will be able to get a piece they really like. 4. Re: The October Eight competition No need to disqualify yourself. It's an open call! Ta, but it's tradition now This year I'll be colouring in Photoshop, rather than the fancy-dan paint program I usually use -- here's a wee sample of the slyle:
5. Last year I ran a little competition for folks to get a character painting, and now a year has passed, I thought I'd do it once again, if there's the interest. For last year's November Nine, all that was required was for people to reply to this thread with character write ups and description and or screenshot. Nine of those were then chosen and painted up. The only difference this year is that as I'll be doing the drawings in October, there will be fewer drawings, hence The October Eight! Last year's bunch were a varied lot and so, if you're interested, please reply to this thread with as many character details as you can, and good luck! ps; If anyone has a link to the very first incarnation of Bulldozer, could you let me know

7. Re: Who's still playing and when? I've just started playing more regularly once again, and I must say, the new Vibora Bay expansion is fantastic. Of course, I'm usually on at European peak times, so don't see other Hero Forumers very often.
8. Re: in the spirit of christmas! Well, from her character description: "Weapons and Gear/Equipment: A Savage 95 bored for the 250-3000, cut down like a carbine with a quick release stock. It's lever gun with a rotary magazine, rather than a tube or box, small enough to hide under a coat, and "quick enough to catch a wolf on the run". Primarily worn across her back in a large map case. A Kahr 40 compact semi-automatic pistol. A heavily modified Mauser c96. Affectionately called her "Han Solo gun", Kim restructured the Shansi Type 17 variant on the C96 to fire 410 bore shotgun shells instead of its original 45 auto colt round. She carries a 2 foot long boarding cutlass at her hip, with a single bar guard in place of the usual bell. Lastly, she usually has several ceramic daggers, of her own design, on her person. The blades are pressed out of a hybrid zirconia compound that utilized silver dust. the 'alloy' makes the blades brittle, but they hold a razor edge and dont set off traditional metal detectors." I thought just showing the cutlass was probably enough, after all, the poor lass has just gotten up.
9. Re: in the spirit of christmas! This one is a private commission of a character from the boards of The Secret World, the upcoming MMO game. The character's name is Kimberlin Moon, her creator is GhostHack, and the rather brilliant story, written by GhostHack and well worth a read is here: http://www.darkdemonscrygaia.com/showthread.php?t=5526

13. Re: in the spirit of christmas! This is just a Work-in-Progress. I don't really do too many supers now, and I thought I should get back into practice. As part of that, I've started a sketch of the Champions character Sapphire. Me being me, and the character being a bit of a fashionista, I have fiddled with the outfit slightly. Colours (and more detailed inking) to come. Sapphire is © Cryptic Studios, Inc

15. Re: in the spirit of christmas! After a lot of back and forth, and re-drawing, here's a (very) small version of page one of Huginn & Muninn, written by Ian Struckhoff, drawn and painted by me. A much, much bigger version is on my deviantArt page. Comments and crits are very welcome!

19. Re: Comic Writers and Artist: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly! Writer Good: Alan Moore. It's become sort of fashionable to knock Moore, but his appearance on the US comics scene re-vitalised how people looked at comics - both inside and outside the industry. Brilliantly imaginative, astonishingly tight scripts and a very dark sense of humour mark Moore out as the first and best artist to write in the comics medium. Writer Bad: The likes of Dan Slott, Marc Guggenheim, Bob Zale and Zeb Wells. Hacks who show no care or consideration for characters who have been developed over 40 years, and wipe them away for the sake of cheap shot short-term sales. Writer Ugly: Frank Miller. I loved his stuff early on, but he became a parody of himself. Dark Knight Strikes Again was appauling. Artist Good; Alan Davis. I love Matt Wagner. The forgotten man Steve Rude. Kirby. Ditko. Barry Windsor-Smith. Frank Bellamy and many more, but Davis can draw anything. In tiny panels. Brilliantly. Artist Bad: Liefield. 'nuff said. Artist Ugly: Jim Lee. urg. Dreadful anatomy. I know everyone loves him, but I just can't stand what he does.

21. Re: Need Super powered Mysteries! A locked door mystery A famous Power Armour hero is found standing stock still in the middle of a deserted warehouse. The armour is sealed tight, and there is no response to ant communication attempts. Is the suit wearer inside? Alive, dead or incapacitated? Is the suit's owner inside, or a thief?
22. Re: A proposal Screenshots (or tight description, Hero Maker, ect) Just for character description. That script example looks good to me
23. Re: A proposal Thanks to everyone who has replied and/or offered their help, it's greatly appreciated It seems there may be enough interest to take this idea further, so I thought I'd put out a few details. I will not be starting this until January. Not only do I have a giant turkey to eat this month, but I'm also rather jammed up with commissions. Submissions may range from character name, screenshot and bio/background all the way to a full script. Don't bother sending anything that copies an existing character. I don't want to get sued, so won't consider it! Without any response from Cryptic, no canon characters will be used, nor will MC be referred to directly. Each monthly 'episode' will range from 1 to 3 pages, no more. This will call for very tight scripting! Artwork will be mine, but your characters will remain yours and be credited as such. This will be a strictly web-based non-profit publication. Submissions sent only to the email address listed below. My PM box here is full enough as it is with spam from Socrates. Collaborators get full consultation on each stage of the creation process. Once we're into the series, then other artists are more than welcome to do a strip or two themselves! The submissions email address is: doctordestiny@hotmail.co.uk Although the main thrust of the series is Westside, it's a guideline not a rule. At present, I intend to host it over on ComicSpace, unless anyone else has a better idea. Please remember that although this is my idea, the whole point of it is to foster more community involvment... *adds cheese* Westside Stories is Your Story... *cheese off* Thoughts, opinions, flame welcome
24. Hi everyone, I'm posting this here to guage interest. In the new year, I'm considering producing a web-comic called 'Westside Stories'. Each monthly 'edition' would feature a different lead character and story, and be short - 2-3 pages only. Whilst the first couple would feature my own characters, the idea would be for players to suggest their own characters and stories to spotlight. The only prerequisite would be that the stories be set in the down and dirty Westside area of Millenium City, and barring permission from Cryptic, not include any official characters. To give you the idea, an sample strip would be something like this: (Page one) (Page two) The idea behind the strip would simply be to flesh out an underused area of the city, and to help foster a community sense of belonging. I've no desire to write the whole of it myself, or to use only my characters - that'd be boring for everyone and far too much work for me. The purpose of this thread is simply to see if there are members of the community who would be interested in helping out. Thanks for your time!
