Alternate Earth Characters #17

Your GM has announced he's going to run an alternate Earth game and he wants you to make a modified version of your character to fit his "Alternate Earth Setting. The GM is being deliberately unclear about whether you'll be playing your alt character or if your regular character will be facing them.

So what is different about your character from

World at War-Earth

It's very little like real Earth because the World is at War since World War II no nation has been at peace for more than 10 years. It doesn't matter what nations are warring because at one time or another they all are and currently that includes the nation where you hang your hat. People are fighting about politics, religion, and economics and coincidentally at this time your nation is defending whatever your character predominantly defends. How does that change your character?

Flippant in a city-under-siege...

He'd be some kind of commando, phasing between realities to launch devastating strikes (there is almost NOTHING that can keep him in and/or out). Add on military skills and lots of guns. Change origin to involve enemy fire. Subtract gymnastics skills.

Wraith, defender of the Empire!

His powers are most useful behind the scenes. He'd be a powerful political figure (or on his way), and a very subtle-yet-dangerous threat to HIS ENEMIES!

Mayday 's France is either still under Nazi regimes or underwent a civil war to throw them out, all french colonies lost. Her grandfather was a hero in the Second Revolution and went on to lead his nation against the imperialist Americans and Soviets over the next several decades in Korea, Vietnam, and dozens of other countries until his death on such a battlefield. Mayday's parents, her father at least, carries on the family tradition as sidekick to another prominent french hero and he too is slaughtered.

Raised by her mother and grandmother Mayday's powers develop on schedule. She wages war on the Americans (and others) and never meets her husband but by the time of her grandmother's death in 1996 does become one of France's top tech innovators, designing better weaponry for the nation's soldiers to use.

Sabre 's grandparents do not meet, but if they somehow did, the Tomorrow Coalition forms with true doubles inside the suits rather than the inventors. TC produces Turtle armor upgrades and other inventions that enhance her country's ofensive and defensive might. Whatever country that is.

Linedrive continues his baseball career as the national sport becomes even more important to keeping up America's spirits. When his career ends during a terrorist attack on one of his games, he retaliates live on camera saving his team and numerous innocents in the stands then resigns the next day to join whatever hero team will have him. He becomes quite popular and a team spokesman, speaking at eulogies for other deceased heroes. Eventually he becomes good friends with the Golden Avenger and works out of PRIMUS.

Hmmmm, let's see....

Adrenaline would have been drafted, fighting in the Marine's elite Meta-Marines squad.

Realm, being the "sheriff" type character and friendly with the government would probably be the leader of the aforementioned Meta-Marines, leading his squad into suicide mission after suicide mission.

Hecabus is generally at war. He is an anti-villian (I know it is a strange phrase, but he seeks power and wants to control and broaden his power base, but he wouldn't be evil to his subjects, rather he would be a nice monarch type dictator/divine king for life — I need to find another explanation of his power model). Currently he is involved in no less than 4 wars, so he would fit into War Earth all too well.

Benevolent Tyranty

Yeah, I enjoyed playing Hecabus. Meglomania is a blast, especially when you have the power and contacts to back it up. When the game went on hiatus, Hecabus and his group had two bases of operations, he was the leader of the Fire Giants, had destroyed the Hill Giants, finished a war with the Drow (led by vampires), was the "power behind" at least one throne, had several thousand followers, was negotiating the crown to the Ogre Magi nation, killed over 1,000,000 vampires (oh, and sacrificied himself in the process) leaving himself in a bizarre torpor waiting for all his followers to pilgramage to his crystal coffin and donate their blood and finish his accension into demigod-hood. Damn I miss playing him.
