CourtFool
If this has been addressed already, please just point me in the right direction. Is there anything to stop everyone and their uncle from using a half move to step from in front of an opponent to behind an opponent and 'attacking from behind'? This is total cheese and I am hoping there is something more substantial to stop it than just crying foul. Since changing facing is a 0 Phase action, does that mean the defender can simply turn to face the attacker? Does that mean the only way to really 'attack from behind' is for the defender to fail to perceive the attacker and not turn to face him or her? Rick
I ussually reserve "Attacked from behind" for multiple attackers and teamwork skills. That's entirely W/the rules but I usually don't bother W/Attacks from behind other wise.
Monolith
I believe the idea here is that target can pivot with the attacker to maintain his full DCV. That's why you get bonuses To Hit for using things like Acrobatics; the target is not expecting the flip over the top and the back kick as he would be watching the attacker move around him and punch him. I only grant from behind DCV to characters the target is not already engaged with. So if Nighthawk comes up behind someone Ironclad is fighting Nighthawk would get the 1/2 DCV attack, assuming the foe does not notice him. Rick
Yeah I'd require the attacker to do something to aquire the "from behind" status. Some type of skill roll or something, atleast a half phase as well.
Farkling
Ditto from here. Back shots are for attackers the subject is unaware of. i wouldn't grant more than a +2 for someone who stepped behind the guy they just hit, and then only if the target was restricted in his movemnts.
