AliceTheOwl
Re: The Last Word DAmn! The gas milage must suck. That seriously sounds like something a person would invent after having an acid trip at an MC Escher show.
Cancer
Re: The Last Word They're putting in a new streetcar here which starts next to one of my workplaces and runs downtown ... not a long stretch, I can walk that in half an hour or a bit less. We're at the south end of Lake Union. So the thing got a quick obvious initial nickname, the South Lake Union Trolley. A coffee shop had an inspiration, and sold "Ride the S.L.U.T." t-shirts ... which sold out rapidly.
AliceTheOwl
Re: The Last Word I heard about that. Didn't realize that was close by you. I've heard a LOT of jokes about it. The only one I remember off the top of my head is the suggestion that you bring protection when you're on the SLUT.
Cancer
Re: The Last Word Heh. Yeah, I work at the north end of it, for the next week. Then I shift to the university, a half-hour hillclimb walk from here.

Cancer
Re: The Last Word Time window, yes. And I don't think it starts running regular service until later this fall. I see them still working on track etc. in some spots.

Cancer
Re: The Last Word My memory is that when SETI@home first came out, the 2-d FFT displays it made were considered Way Cool as a screensaver purely on aesthetic grounds. The involvement in SETI was gravy.
AliceTheOwl
Re: The Last Word Well, I'm back. My brother-in-law got hernia surgery on Friday. Josh and I went to look after our nephew, who, at two years and nine months, is a bundle of energy. I mostly read and kept an eye on them both. AliceTheOwl
Re: The Last Word Well, having them when you can't afford your own needs is pretty irresponsible. We're working on paying off our debts and starting over with a blank slate, and having me pursue a Master's so I can work doing something I'll enjoy most of the time. As opposed to doing this soul-sucking job I hate all the time I'm here.

If you could spend all day watching movies (say), and get paid for it, would you call that work?
