Beowulf Posted April 2, 2003 Report Share Posted April 2, 2003 Ok, I really do love the system. It is amazing. Awsome. No need to defend hero, we all know how fun it is. Now having said that there are a couple things that I hope can be addressed. Has anyone come up with a way of decreasing the curve with regard to stats and break points for character optimization? Is there somewhere I can go for Hero LIte? Specifically I am looking for 'plug-ins' along the lines of what is found in the current champions. Pre generated stats and abilities that I can mix and match to my taste without having to build it all from the ground up are what I am looking for, for more then just the Champions setting would help a great deal. Monolith Posted April 2, 2003 Report Share Posted April 2, 2003 I do not know of any other "random" generators for 5th besides the one in Champions. What I do suggest you do is take a look at the example characters in the back of CKC (Lei Kung and Guan Di). What that section talks about is a way to quickly modify villains in CKC to make them something new and unique with minimal effort. When you consider that 1/3 to 1/2 of the characters in CKC are 350 points, it becomes very simple to use them as templates for characters. The USPD will also be available in about a month. While it does not help with a character's characteristics, it does offer over 3,000 premade powers, groups into types (Fire, Air, Animal, ect) thus you can easily make a mentalist or teleporter just by picking powers from those sections of the book. Old Enemies books, with villains you never plan on using in your current campaign, also make great templates for new players in your game. That's all I can think of at the moment. But perhaps you can get or tailor some 'pre-fabs' or somesuch to serve as a starting point. Otherwise, you could just make your own random power charts for Champions or use ones from other random generation tables in (gasp!) other systems. I have access to the first Marvel Superheroes System for example, and I have in the past used it to generate some characters who were then used as starting points for Champions characters. Also, The Mutant File has a Random Mutant Generator Table in the back... not exactly thrilling, but it might inspire you. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Lord Liaden Posted April 3, 2003 Report Share Posted April 3, 2003 Closest thing I know is the computerized Random Character Generator for Champions and Fantasy HERO characters designed by our fellow member nyakki. It lets you produce characters suitable for both genres with abilities either randomly generated, or with several parameters tailored to your preferences. Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but at least it may provide you some good templates. And it's fun to play with. It is still under 4th Ed. HERO System, though, but it would be easy to adjust for the most part. Nyakki is working on updating to 5th, by his own word.
