Personal Info

Hgt: 4'6" Wgt: 250 lbs Hair: Grey Eyes: Grey

Appearance: Jarr looks like your typcal fantasy dwarf including long beard, stocky but muscular build. When out in public he constantly wears his armor and carries his huge 2 Handed warhammer.

Personality: Jarr tends to be gruff and blunt in his speech. He tells it like it is and if you don't like it tough. He does however possess a very kind heart and will go out of his way to help people. He longs to be returned home to but as of yet has not found anyone who can seem to open a portal to his home world. Until he does return Jarr has decided to fight injustice along side of the costumed heroes.

Quote: Short am I? Come over here an' I'll be hammerin' ye down ta size then!

Origin

Another World, Another time

Jarr Stonefist was born in the city of Irongate, in the Grey Mountains on the continent of Drakikor. Jarr was a typical dwarf, happily laboring in his mountain home making weapons and armor to trade to the other races. As he grew Jarr also qucikly learned the ways of combat and upon reaching the age of 45, the point when dwarves are considered adults, Jarr recieved a magical war hammer and a suit of armor from his father. Over the next 20 years Jarr's life changed very little, forging weapons and armor and defending his home from the occasional goblin raid. Then it happened, at first it seemed just like another goblin raid until the first wave of dark elves rushed in with their ogre shocktroops. The dwarves were caught completely off guard and many were slaughtered in the first rush, but then dwarves rallied as workers returned from the mines. Jarr fought well that day dropping countless goblins, ogres and dark elves. As he waded through the eneemies he saw the female sorceress who was leading the attack, calling upon the magic of his hammer he teleported behind her in hopes of taking her by suprise. Unfortunatley he was the one suprised as he was suddenly parayzed by one of her spells. Unable to move but still aware of his surroundings he watched in horror as the sorceress opened some sort of gate and her troll body guard hurled the paralyzed dwarf through it and then all went black.

Our World, the Present

Viper Agent Jack Muldoon private journal entries found in a Viper base in the Colorodo Rockies by UNTIL agents next to his body. After the Warhammer Incident.

April 17th 2004 : Man I just came back from the commanders office and I'm gonna be standing guard in the dimensonal travel research lab for the next week. Yippee!

April 19th 2004: We've got a new scientist in the lab an african woman named Dr. N'Shembe Umbatu. Talk about a bitch, I yawned at she snapped at me.

April 20th 2004: We fianally opened a dimesional rift today. The bitch was in a better mood she actually smiled at me when the rift opened..

April 21st 2004: Something unusual happened today when Dr. Umbatu opened the rift soemthing came through. It was an extremely short man dressed in old fashioned armor and holding a warhammer. Dr. Umbatu set up a stretcher in the room and has decided to study the man.

April 22nd 2004: Dr. Umbatu is dead and I think I will soon join her. My side is on fire and I think one of my ribs has pierced a lung. The 'man' woke up as the Doctor leaned over him his eyes burning with hatred, he grabbed the hammer and caved her skull in. I took a shot at him but my energy rifle didn't seem to even get through his armor. Next..thing..I knew he was suddenly behind me and that huge hammer was crushing my ribs and I dropped. He ran out of the room and I heard the firing of energy rifles and the screams of my fellow agents. I managed to crawl to my quarters this will be my last entry my vision is bluring....(the writing trails off).

Re: Character for Opinions and Criticism: Warhammer

Unless I'm reading this wrong, he has a PD of 26, and a HA of 21d6; this means that one of his own blows will on average do (3.5 x 21) 74 stun, he'd take 46, and even with his 30 con end up stunned and down in one more blow. I'm guessing he is meant as a front line brawler with a few gimmicks, which means he has to be ready to deal with other bricks that will also have 21d6 attacks (as every GM will hit you with a few bricks as strong as your character or stronger at least once). You might want to drop his CON to 28 or up it to 33 (yes, min-maxing is your friend), drop his body to 20 or even 15, and then use the points you save to buy a Ring of Regeneration (nice and cheap), some Combat Luck or extra armor, and maybe a War Hammer based Martial Art with a good Block and some levels for those meetings with rival bricks.

As it is, he's fairly delicate for a tank.

Re: Character for Opinions and Criticism: Warhammer

I'd definitely drop some points from BODY and put them elsewhere - OddHat has some good ideas as to where. 20 Resistant PD and ED should mean he won't be taking a lot of BODY damage very often. If you drop it to 20, you could get some Physical Damage Reduction, either on its own or (for a better value) as part of the Armor... or you might even buy some extra armor as part of the Hammer, with the special effect that he interposes the hammer between himself and incoming attacks. When you count OIF (-1/2) and "Only vs Attacks He Sees Coming "(I'd give that -1/2 as well, given his low PER roll and lack of Danger Sense), those saved 20 pts could definitely have better effects elsewhere.

This guy does an awful lot of damage for a 350-pt campaign, btw... are there damage caps?

Re: Character for Opinions and Criticism: Warhammer

re:Stronghammer, err, Warhammer:

Just picky, but I don't "feel" the Affects Desolid as a seperate slot. If the magic hammer can hit ghosts, etc. then it should always hit ghosts, etc., even if the person swinging it doesn't realize they're desolid. I'd rather see all the slots Affects Desolid, or some explanation as to why only one slot does it (wielder has to concentrate to bring up the hammer's astral form, or press a certain rune prior to swinging, etc).

A little non-teleport movement could also go a long way. Especially after taking KB, a 3" half move won't get you too far, and you'll be using that reduced-by-range slot a lot and dealing with range mods. A few inches of running ("How do those legs move so fast?") or a Thor-like throw-hammer-go-along-for-ride flight(must land at end of move) could be very helpful.

Actually Jeffrey I am not in any cmapign right now. I just happen to be messing with a few ideas I've had for years. Where I live there a far and few gamers. And do to financial problems I dont even own any of the books this character was designed using the demo version of hero designer. When I did play however the gm I had was actually using a 250 pt base with 125 in disadvantages. But that was 10+ years ago now and a different state.

Re: Character for Opinions and Criticism: Warhammer

I'm not sure that DF should be worth so many points, myself. Admittedly, a 4'6" muscular guy is unusual, but he still looks predominantly human, so I wouldn't think it would cause a major reaction. My two cents.

Does he truly have a Public ID? Is the general public aware of his whereabouts 24/7?

If he still needs to swing or otherwise manipulate the hammer to use it, it should probably be Restrainable.

And I agree with the above posters that you should up your movement rate, since you can't teleport and swing the hammer in the same round.
