CrosshairCollie
Before I make an official pester to Mr. Long, I thought I'd check out here to see if I was just missing the rule, or if it isn't there, what other people do. Two people coordinate on a target, from approximately the same direction. Both attacks do knockback; how does the knockback distance accumulate? What if they attacked from opposite directions? If it turns out there's a quick page reference for this, I have 5E not 5ER, if that makes a difference.
rayoman
Re: Knockback on Coordinated Attacks Personally, I would use common sense. If knockbock occurs from the same general direction then you can a). add the two values together or . take the highest value and use that. Just be consistent. Once you choose how you are going to do it then stick with that throughout the campaign. I would use a. If knockback occurs from opposite directions then subtract the smaller value from the higher value and the target is propelled the difference in hexes and in the direction the higher value knockback occurred. ex: Hero A and Hero B coordinate to attack Villain C. Hero A is in front of the the Villain and Hero B is behind the Villain. Hero A does 8" knockback and Hero B does 3" knockback. The villain will fly backwards 5" and may or may not hit Hero B. fbdaury
Re: Knockback on Coordinated Attacks From FREd, page 249, second column, 3rd paragraph, near the end: "If the knockback rule is being used, Knockback is determined normally, then added together." As far as from opposite directions, I know that past editions had a sample combat where Starburst and Crusader hit Ogre from opposite directions and the knockback is essentially added as damage if they equal and if one is more than the other, he takes the matching damage and whatever knockback is leftover, in the direction indicated... Metaphysician
Re: Knockback on Coordinated Attacks That would mean, btw, that doing coordinated attacks from opposite directions is a good way to rack up damage, as the KB damage is basically unavoidable. Metaphysician
Re: Knockback on Coordinated Attacks True. OTOH, keep in mind that defense gets applied separately to each attack, and each batch of KB damage, with Stun only being totalled for purposes of Stunning afterwards.
