nexus
In 2020 a radical environmental terrorist group called the Scions of Gaia launched a massive assault against civilization itself. Utilizing a combination of multiple high altitude EMP bombs, computer viruses and engineered biological weapons the Scions effectively brought the modern world to an end. Thousands, if not millions died in weeks from plague, rioting and disasters as the infrastructure of hundreds of years came crashing down. Governments lost the ability to feed, communicate or regulate their people and most nations effectively ceased to exist. Those that survived called it “The Burnâ€. Seventy years passed. The survivors have managed to eke out a primitive existence among the ruins, carving out a crude existence and struggling to regain what was lost. Technology is a rare and precious commodity and almost magical when it works at all. But, in the wake of the destruction, a new world has emerged. The death of the modern world left a void in Humanity and many turned to ancient ways to fill it. Religion and spiritualism have flourished with the death of technology. New lessons have been learned about the nature and power of the mind. Psionic and Psychic abilities are a reality and many of the old folktales and legends about the powers of the occult have been found to not be so fanciful after all. But not all humans have sought new ways. Many struggle to regain what was lost. Living among the ruins, scavenging and struggle to rebuilt the Old world or create a new one in its image. The old tools are broken but the means to rebuild them remain. Reconstructionists live for the day Mankind will once again hold total dominion over this world and others. A few merely dream of dominating their fellow man in the here and now… This is the world of the PCs, the youth of this new age, burn in the ruins of the Burn. Struggling to learn and survive in a harsh new world. Rebuild the old world or create a new one, its will be your choice and your struggle. nexus
Re: PBEM ad: "After the Burn..." (Post Apocolypse Hero) No, I'm sorry. I've been asshat and not gotten back to you. Apparently the only thing that sucked was my game idea. I've gotten two character submissions for it. Counting yours.
BoneDaddy
Re: PBEM ad: "After the Burn..." (Post Apocolypse Hero) You could modify it a little - include a goal for the campaign so we can know more about what characters to create. The requirements for a character travelling through the urban wastes are somewhat different than the requirements for a character hired to go into the contaminated zone around TMI to fetch God knows what. A group of post-apoc psychics working for the state would have very diffferent adventures than a group of cybered out bodyguards. Etc. It's a great world you've created - tell us which slice of it to occupy, and I think you might get more takers.
Black Omega
Re: PBEM ad: "After the Burn..." (Post Apocolypse Hero) More details would be nice. Is this extremely grim and gritty? How is magic handled, since the background suggests there is magic. Straight out powers or are limitations recommended. Same for psychic abilities. Normal tech is crude? How crude? Swords and shields? Old guns from the age before? Are there real communities or just isolated individuals? We know what happened to the world, what's the current world like?
