Demon/Angel powers for Urb. Fantasy.

After seeing Constantine, (yes, it's mediocre, except for Keanu, who is just bad, and it has just enough of the comic in it to make you weep for the parts that aren't,) I'm in the mood for a good-ol angels/demons game. Anyone here every converted In Nomine or Demon the Fallen into the Hero System, or know where I can get a big list of demon/angel powers in Hero?

I'm going for a kind of bleak look - going to throw in some bits from here and there. Maybe more than a little inspiration from Kult.

Re: Demon/Angel powers for Urb. Fantasy.

Completely depends on the mythos you want to use. If you look up in a book on Angelology, pretty much most "standard" powers can be ascribed to angels or demons in mythology.

Do you want flaming swords and holy armor? Or something more like in Prophesy?

Celestials seem universally capable of feats of great strength. They are at turns completely invulnerable to harm or not that much greater than humans (witness Jacob wrestling the angel). According to the book of Enoch, the Grigori taught mankind all the arts of mankind (including pretty much all skills, from hunting to warfare to sorcery to cosmetics). Consequently, there seems to be a descrepancy between "earth bound" angels who would be highly skilled, and heaven sent angels who would lack knowledge of anything outside their basic function.

If you are going for bleak, I suppose the other question would be do you want them as PCs or simply NPCs?

As a rule, I would suggest the following:

Huge Presence bonus (unless you want demons and Angels to be something one can expect to fight, in most mythology they simply awe mortals into fear/compliance).

Transforms: Sighted to Blind individuals

Flight

Damage Reduction/High Armor values. In some games, Celestials were considered invulnerable in the days of spears and swords, but this was simply because the weapons were not good enough... a rocket launcher though...)

Most Mental powers would be viable, especially for demons.

Summons (other Celestials/animals)

Desolid and Invisibility for travelling as a spirit

Extra Dimensional Travel (natch)

Images

Environmental control

Dispel-versus mortal sorcery/their opposite's powers.

Possibly:

HKA-Flaming Weapon/Infernal Blades

RKA-Celestial Fire

Holy Aura Damage Shields

Just a few ideas off the top of my head. Hope that helps.

Well, as far as game conversions go, there was an attempt to do something with In Nomine on the old UBB format discussion boards, but it never progressed much past discussion of how to do "vessels." If that's of interest to you, though, here's where to find it:

I'm not aware of a conversion specifically for Demon: The Fallen, but there was a comic series inspired by it by Jim Starlin featuring "The 'Breed," the hybrid offspring of demons and mortals. That does have pretty detailed HERO stats which should give you some ideas:

Here's a discussion board topic on the possible powers possessed by angels, and their HERO System equivalents:

These two threads have example writeups of angelic or other "holy powered" characters. Although they're more geared to the superhero genre, several elements could easily be adapted to lower-powered games. There are more examples on the boards if you wanted to take the time to search for them.

There are also lots of writeups for "generic" demons of all power levels in the HERO System Bestiary, and various classes of angel written up in The Mystic World sourcebook.

I hope that helps. :)
