Haven Walkur Posted April 1, 2005 Report Share Posted April 1, 2005 Re: Need a name for a character Name for a martial artist using "shadow" techniques: Tenebrae (Latin for 'shadow') pronounced "ten-eh-BRAY" Nightfall (more "shadowy" names) Night's-Edge (for the incredible balance and shadow affinity) Dusk (another shady name) Eventide (just an old-fashioned way of saying "evening", coupled with the idea of the evening flowing in like the tide) Shadowdancer (for the shadow powers, speed and agility) Shadowhand (for the skills in MA) Shard (for the 'steel storm' techniques) Sunder (for the "shattering fist" HA) Shrapnel (likewise) Spiral (for the speed of movement and MA attacks) Helix (I imagine the character seems to spin in a circle when throwing out those Autofire attacks!) Shadow Scorpion (for the venemous fist HA) Manta (venemous fist HA) For what it's worth, I'd like the character to be male hero. Somehow shadows are usually seen as a feminine power, and a shadow-using martial artist villain is just terribly stereotypical! I'll keep posting names as they occur to me. We've got a shadow-controlling martial artist hero in my campaign ("Shadowstalker"). He's actually the son of the first character of that name, from when we were running the campaign 15 years ago. When I used a shadow-controlling martial artist as a semi-occurring nemesis, that was the first villain with shadow control I can recall. And so far I don't think I can remember any shadow-controlling female characters. The campaign has years of backstory and there used to be multiple GMs involved, though, so there might have been one. pinecone Posted April 1, 2005 Author Report Share Posted April 1, 2005 Re: Need a name for a character Haven...thanx several of those sound real good....I'll try making up a male costume and see if it works....around 90% of the chars I create are male, and fighting is a male prefered career path, so it makes sense to be a male character.....besides if I make him a hero I can play him myself some time...
