Foxx!
Heroes! Should encumbrance affect OCV? Cheers!
Dust Raven
Re: encumbrance and OCV The times it definately would and definately would not are so varied I think it's impossible to formulate a rule for it. Example, wielding a sword while carrying a heavy pack: The pack is unbalancing and heafty. It slows the movement of the body. This obviously reduces DCV as the character can't avoid attacks as easily. It also affects the accuracy of swings and thrusts with the sword. Of course, should the character keep his arm close to his body and restrict movement of the sword to just his wrist and elbow, almost all of the unbalancing brought about by swinging it around are eliminated. Example, scrawny guy in riot gear and a rifle: Scrawny guy can barely move in the riot gear and has trouble bringing the rifle to bear on any target. However, once he has a target roughly in the path of the rifle, it's fairly easy to aim.
