Archon
(inches per phase) * (speed) * 0.375 = mph
lemming
Hmm. Archon is close: (5 * 60 * 200)/(2.54*12*5280) ~= 0.3728 Where do these #s come from: 5 = rounds per minute 60 = minutes per hour 200 = centimeters per game inch 2.54 = centimeters per real inche 12 = inches per foot 5280 = feet per miles This results in the 0.3728, known as Quant's constant in some gaming circles. Multiply Inches per round by 0.3728 to get miles per hour. Or if you want to be really anal, go with the whole formula.
Killer Shrike
Heres a trick. (SPEED x Velocity )/2.6 (2.6824) its fairly close
Haerandir
Calculator Commando Time: Lemming gives two numbers. I just ran his formula through the calculator, and he got it right the first time... 0.3728 is the proper outcome, not 0.3278.
