Hyperdrive!

The BBC seems to be on a sci-fi kick these days -- not that they're not willing to have some fun doing it.

Apparently they have just premiered a new comedy series called Hyperdrive, about the adventures of a British starship crew. If the "Space Force Exntrance Exam" on the BBC website is any indication, it might be amusing. And the setting, which comibined elements of Star Trek spacefaring with the geenral attitude of Paranoia, looks like a fun idea to game in.

I'll know more if I actually get to see any. I'll let you know if I do. (My not being in Britain complicates matters.)

Incidentally, it is on fairly late (10:00pm), so I suspect it might be a bit risque.

Re: Hyperdrive!

I watched episode 1 and 2 of the series. It is somewhat amusing but It has not hooked me yet. Of course that could just be my own failing as I never quite warmed to a lot of British Scifi comedies. For Example, I loved reading Red Dwarf but hated watching it. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was alright, though.

As an aside I am loving the new Doctor Who (David Tennant was great in the Christmas Invasion) and I am looking forward to Torchwood.

Re: Hyperdrive!

I tried, I really tried, but this sci-fi sitcom is the most tedious drivel I've seen for years. Everything that's wrong about trying to make sci-fi funny is packed into one convenient half hour package. Especially disappointing given that Nick Frost is in it. And there's very little of use in a game, either.

Oh Good. Then it is not just me. It has gotten a chuckle or two out of me but I do not think that I am going to hang around for it. Now if they could have had the writers of Absolute Power do a Scifi show I would so be in.
