steph
Re: casting phase tx tgrandjean but you said he can just abort because is spell is a full phase action or because you can do anything else except abort maneuvers stef
Old Man
Re: casting phase From Segment 1 to Segment 5 you can only do Abort maneuvers. This is because at SPD 2 you have no action until Segment 6. If the spell is full phase, you cannot move during the phase. You would tell the GM that you are doing the full phase casting thing during Phase 6.

prestidigitator
Re: casting phase For Hero I usually don't have players declare at all: when their Phase comes up they simply describe what they are doing as they do it. The point where it gets a little tricky is when characters start Delaying their Phases (or Half-Phases); at that point I might ask for each character's intentions just before they actually move/act, in order to resolve things according to the perception of the delaying character. Old Man
Re: casting phase You don't need to say anything or give any warning of doing anything until your Phase/Dex comes up. The only time you really need to is if you're trying to coordinate with your team/party. UNLESS you are talking about spells/actions that take longer than a Phase i.e., Haymaker. You still declare what you are doing when You Phase/Dex comes up but have to wait extra time for the thing to happen.
Thia Halmades
Re: casting phase If you have 2 full phases in a turn (on 6 and 12) you have a few ways of handling this. If you're asking "When do I declare I'm burning a full phase?" I don't use declaration phase either - when I say 'declare action' I simply mean "the player tells the GM what she's about to do." In HERO, because movement is entirely defined by the SPD chart, there's no need really to do a 'declarations' phase; it's needless time. So as you say, "You talk on your DEX" and then act. So from phases 1-5, all you can do is abort. IF you choose to abort, THEN you would lose your Phase 6 action, and be incapable of aborting again until Phase 7, when you could sacrifice your Phase 12 action. Under ideal conditions, you would cast your spell after moving, as it counts as an attack action. If your spell requires a Full Phase, either as a Lim or for some other reason, then you simply cast the spell and its effect occurs at the end of your phase. Does that answer your question?
