Mutant for Hire
I mentioned it on another thread, talking about entry level HERO games, but I was wondering if anyone else had taken the idea and put it into reality. That is, that you create two character sheets for every character. One of them is a 'source code' sheet. It purely has the point costs of characteristics, skills, powers, talents and so on. It doesn't have things like CV, 9+CHAR/5 and all of that stuff. It's purely to list how the character was built. The other sheet would be the compiled sheet. No raw characteristics, purely what impact those characteristics have in the game. CV, 9+CHAR/5 and the effects of powers rather than how they were built. The line from the SPD table for the character, etc. The stuff people use all the time in the game session. What do people think of this? Has anyone actually tried to create a good sheet for that? Vondy
I think its an excellent idea. Since I'm the one who generally manages the mechanics, math, and whatnot in my games, it would simplify some of my more rules skittish players lives. Ndreare
Although I have not made any thing like this I am trying to read the Hero Designer Help book and if all turns out the way I want it to I will be able to make templates then it will only be a matter of putting it down on paper. If any one here already posseses theskills please share the template with us as you have made it.
Talon
I did this back in the day (like 10 years ago, sheesh), and still do it for con characters. I don't really have anything fancy worked up, though. I've actually started doing it in D&D as well, for players who are not comfortable with the rules. Having a sheet with all the extraneous stuff removed seems to help a lot.
Kid Chaos
I've taken to writing players powers out along the same lines as the old marvel game from TSR. It helps my newer players identify better with what a specific entry does exactly in regards to those strange numbers following it.
