MPA v. Rapid Fire

Recommended Posts

I have a quick question about multiple power attacks versus Rapid Fire or Sweep.

As I understand it any character with multiple offensive powers can use them in one attack with no minuses. Alternatively, a character may use rapid fire or sweep to use the same offensive power multiple times at the cost of minues to OCV, DCV and limitations on movement.

What about characters that have purchased duplicate weapons for 5pts. For example, Warbird has two micro missle launchers. If he fires both at the same target is it a MPA or Rapid Fire?

Thanks for your help.

Re: MPA v. Rapid Fire

I'm pretty sure you can sweep/rapid fire different attacks as well as the same one.

MPA is not an idea I am comfortable with anyway, but on the face of it, two weapons for +5 points gives you two attacks for your MPA.

Cheap.

Nasty.

What happened to 'linked' or 'reduced penetration'.

Sigh.

I once posted a rules question to Steve Long about equipment doublers which included this issue. Here's where you can read it and his response: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10969

Re: MPA v. Rapid Fire

Thanks! I missed that when I did my search before posting.

It surprises me as it seems like it is prone to abuse. With 10 extra points, all of a sudden Power Armor Man with sholder mounted lasers is firing 4 shots on target per round. Nasty.

However, that sort of tips the GM discretion comment he made at the end.

Thanks again for your help.
