THE WHITE LION (Black Panther homage)

 

Prince M'Balla of Dakana in Africa on his fathers death was elevated to the king of his country and to the elevated position of the tribal protector the White Lion.

 

He entered the sacred caves where the Daka crystals lay giving off their mystic power to the rightful air of the kingdom. M,Balla was transformed that day into his tribes champion, wwith enhanced speed, strength, reflexes and senses. He donned his fathers costume and vowed to protect hsi kingsom and all humanity from harm.

 

Using his scientific skill he picked up from the best foriegn education the Lion travelled to the US to visit the famous Atom Family for advice and help to preotect his kingdom from foriegn thieves and poachers who were trying to steal the Daka Crystals such as the villain Black Talon.

 

The Atom family became firm friends and when a coup in his kingdom led by Doctor Simian and his apes meant he was exiled from his kingdom for years they introduced him to the Patriot who gave him membership of the Sentinels and the White Lion has become a core member ever since.

 

While in the US he has continually attempted to regain his rightful place on the throne of Dakana but has been thwarted time and time again by different foes. He must resign himself to be patient while protecting the world as a member of the Sentinels!

 

Recently he has began a close romantic liason with Malestorm of the Protectors and some of their friends are predicting marriage for the two African super heroes.

ICICLE (Ice homage)

 

Christina Ullmann was born in Norway, her family thought she was normal despite the greater than normal cold that seemed to follow her around. That was until the mutant leader of the Scions of Caine Mastermind, kidnapped her and spirited her away.

 

Over the next few months she was taught to use her powers of cold and ice generation and he attempted to brainwash her with his mutant supremacy theories.

 

Before this could take place however Professor Psion the leader of the Protectors raided their base and took her back to his compund in the US.

 

Although she was too young and inexperianced to join the main Protectors team, Psion thought she would be perfect for his new Academy of Young Mutants.

 

Icicle as she was now code named joined eagerly happy to be somewhere she finally felt she belonged, she has worked hard at the Academy and become a core student, however she lives in fear that Mastermind will come for her again like he did before and rip her away from her new family.

MECHANON (Ultron homage)

 

The robotic monster known as Mechanon has plagued humanity for over a genration now, it is quite ironic that he was brought into exsistence by one of the most distinguised heroes on the planet the founding member of the Sentinels Micromax.

 

Dr. Henry Porter had been a world leader in robotics and many other sceincies for many years leading him to develop his own scientific powers as the size changing Sentinel Micromax. With his charismatic wife Lauren otherwise known as the insect heroine Firefly, he had developed a spotless reputation as a hero with the Sentinels.

 

That all changed the day he gave Mechanon sentient life. The robot somehow rejected his organic "father" and that day started a quest to destroy all organic life on earth until on it was Earth's true master.

 

Having an almost pathological hatred for his "parents" Mechanon has continued to house his evil machine intellect in continually more powerful robotic bodies until he had made hmself once of the most powerful super villains on earth and maybe the Sentinels greatest foe.

PULSAR (Electro Homage)

 

Max Costen was an ex marine who had fallen on hard times, He had drifted into petty crime and working for low level mob guys as an enforcer. This new electrical engineer's job was his first break in years! It might not pay much but it was better than going hungry.

 

The electrical storm that happened that day was strange almost freaky and as the lightning surged into the electrical mains that Max was repairing something terrible happened! Pulsar the master of electricity was born.

 

Max was unable to control his powers that day or fully deal with what had happened to him, he went on a rampage in downtown Freedom City, which was only halted after he battled the young hero Hornet and lost badly.

 

Since that day Pulsar has become a supervillain for hire, with only two goals to get rich! and to revenge himself on the Hornet! he has achieved nether and has become one of the Hornets most regular foes even going so far to join the Secret Seven whose whole purpose is to destroy the Hornet.

TALISMAN (Shaman homage)

 

Johnny Youngman was born into his tribe of Canadian native Americans with rare mystical power. It was apparent from the signs at his birth he was meant to be the mystical guardian of Canada and this has proved only too true.

 

After honing and expanding his mystical powers and knowledge in the Canadian wilderness during the 1930's he served with distinction during the war as maybe Canada's most famous super hero.

 

After the way he went into a self imposed exile in the Canadian wilderness to once again meditate and expand his mystical knowledge. Their he met a strange wilderness spirit and the two fell in love. this union left the Indian medicine man with a daughter who was to grow into the shape changing magician Mother Raven, and for the next twenty years Talisman devoted hismelf to her upbringing and safety.

 

Talisman once again entered the modern superhuman world when Earth's master mage Eldrich contacted him to help fight the mystical invasion of Tyrannon the Conquerer. Eldrich quickly formed the Circle a powerful alliance of white magicians and Sorcerers capable of repelling their great foe. Talisman has often allied himself with the Circle since when the world has needed the union of their mystical powers.

 

Most recently his daughter Mother Raven asked him to join the modern Canadian super team the Guard as it's mystical protector and Talisman was only too happy to agree, He acts as a kind of team grandfather, the voice of long experiance on a team that is both young and idealistic.

LADY OF THE LANTERN (Mantis Homage)

 

The mysterious heroine Lady of the Lantern was born the youngest daughter to one of the Raven's most notorious enemies the evil Doctor Sin. trained in the martial arts from a young age, Sin intended her to become the leader of his female assassins, but she rebelled and fled to Hong Kong where she became that cities superhuman protector.

 

After a mystical adventure with earths master mage Eldrich she was given the holy Lantern of the East as it was revealed she was "The Chosen One" and the Lantern belonged to her as its modern mystic guardian.

 

With the mystical light powers of the lantern and her supreme martial arts skill she became known as the Lady of the Lantern and protecte Hong Kong until the minions of her father tracked her down.

 

Fleeing his revenge she travelled to the US where she joined the Sentinels for a time although she never felt comfortable with the team especially after causing problems for the already married Avar-7.

 

Leaving and travelling with the Raven for a time she eventually faced her demons and defeated her father in single combat with the prize being he agreeing to her living her life on her terms without his evil influence.

 

Returning to her adopted homeland Hong Kong she has since resumed her protection of the city and resides there to this day.

MOTHER RAVEN (Snowbird Homage)

 

Katherine Youngman was born the daughter of the mystical Canadian super hero Talisman and as such was born with some of her fathers mystical power.

 

In her teenage years she discovered she could transform herself into any animal native within the Artic or Canadian borders. She gained all of that animals abilities and physical shape and with practice she could change shape at will.

 

She was indeed a mystical legendary "shape changer" and once realising the truth her father protected her and schooled her in her abilities.

 

In her late teens she lost control of her powers and went on an animalistic rampage in the wild and her father realised she needed much closer supervision and training. He inducted her into the newly formed Canadian super team the Guard to help her come to terms with her powers.

 

Calling herself Mother Raven after her favourite animal form, Katherine soon loved being a member of the team and became a core member. Recently it was discovered that if she leaves Canada's borders for more than a few days she becomes terribly il land weak and her powers begin to fade, once again reinforcing her mystical connection to Caanda.

JASON WYLDER (Bishop homage)

 

Jason Wylder was a rough, tough, skilled and weary cop in 23rd century Freedom City, his grandfather had always told him wild tales about his fmaily being connected to the fabled mutant hero team the Protectors but he didnt beleive the sweet old man, after all he was crazy!

 

That changed on Wylder's 41st birthday as a being only known as Istatha V'Han the mistress of time plucked Wylder from the time stream and manipulated him into fighting the Sentinels in some weird test or game as part of a new team of Protectors from the ages.

 

Wylder found out that day that he was in fact a mutant with the power to absorb energy of all kinds and use it to power blasts of energy of incredible power.

 

The present day Protectors put a stop to this game of revenge and like others that had been plucked from the time stream allowed Wylder to shelter and join the team for a while.

 

Wylder however missed his old life and burned for revenge against Isatha V'Han and with other heroes that had been manipulated by her and her future man self the Timemaster decided to form a team to stop further meddling with the time stream.

 

After enlisting the aid of Amazing Man and using the time machine that the Atom Family had taken from Doctor Destroyer many years before the the Time Corps were in buissness, Wylder would ensure the mistress of time would never meddle in his life again!

TELEIOS (Mr Sinister homage)

 

Nathaniel Stroessen was from a wealthy Swedish imigrant family in England during Victorian era. His family was well known and prosperous and young Nathaniel was born with an intelligent and enquiring mind.

 

However the same could not be said for his physical form, which was weak and sickly. Nathaniel in adulthood became obsessed with improving his physical form and went to stranger and more extreme methods of study such as body snatching and expemintation.

 

Such practices soon brought him to the attention of the ancient Egyptian mutant the Warlord. He was soon kidnapped and brought to the Warlords African base where he was given a choice. Let the Warlord expirement and improve his inferior physical self and the Warlord would teach him his genetic and cloning skills, it was an offer Nathaniel quickly accepted.

 

Over the next ten years Nathaniel changed in body mind and body, he quickly learnt all the secrets the Warlord could teach him and in fact surpassed the mutant in skill and knowledge in genetics and cloning.

 

The Warlord had also augemnated his body to make him the perfect human, more than human, he had great strength and toughness and was perfect in every way.

 

The day he left the Warlord Nathaniel no longer existed, instead Teleios the perfect man had taken his place. Becoming terrible enemies of each other Teleios and the Warlord both began tampering with suspected minor mutant bloodlines in their search for influence and power against each other in a genetic war that continues to this very day.

 

With the Warlord and Mastermind, Teleios has become one of the "big three" mutant threats according to Proffessor Psion leader of the Protectors.

 

He also suspects that Teleios is in fact responsible for many of the mutations of the members of the protectors and in fact all modern mutants.

 

Teleios has recently put together a team of mutants he has created himself from his own labs called Anarchy. He uses this ruthless team to kidnap for study or eliminate rival mutants he sees as a long term threat to the mutant gene pool.

 

Teleios has come into conflict with the Protectors time and time again and recently attacked the Ghouls an underground community of mutants in Freedom City.

OFFICER PROMETHEUS (Human Torch 1 homage)

 

in the mid 1930's Chicago Jim Davis was one of the first black cops on the beat. He was a wel lrespected officer, strong, tough and fair and he enjoyed the job despite the racism he had to endure.

 

That al lchanged on a cool summer night when a strange burning red meteor hit the city. Davis was the first on the scene and bravely entered the blast area. He was immediatley overcome by the alien like gases of the flaming rock and was taken to hospital unconcious.

 

He awoke months later his body changed seemingly fused with the strange fiery rock. He now had an amazing power over heat and flame and could will his body to become a fiery furnace!

 

Deciding to continue to fight crime he dubbed himself Officer Prometheus and became one of the first superheroes, but not a popular one due to his skin colour and the suspicion and fear aroused by his fiery form.

 

When the Liberty League was formed at teh start of the war he was a founding member and served throughout the war with distinction. He disappeared however late in 1944 and his team mates searched for him in vain before disapearing themselves into the timestream.

 

Jim Davis almost became a forgotten hero apart from to one man. His close friend the Patriot never forgot about him and restarted a modern search for him once the Liberty League had reformed.

 

He eventually found Davis in suspended animation deep in a German underground bunkerlab that was being used by the Fourth Reich.

 

Since being freed Davis has retaken his Prometheus identity and taken his place back amoung his close team mates of the Liberty League. He has recently taken to have a series of friendly duels with his modern fiery superhero counterpart Blaze of the Atom family.

RED PHOENIX (Valkyrie homage)

 

A few years ago Lady Liberty was kidnapped by a secret ancient tribe of super women from South America called the Amazons. They wished to test this new female champion and see if she was infact the fabled Lady Liberty from world war 2.

 

They sent their three greatest warriors after her all sisters, including the greatest Swordswoman of the tribe who had been intrusted with the great magival blade of the Amazons the Phoenix.

 

Red Phoenix as she is known was bested in single combat like her sisters and accepted Lady Liberty as a true champion of womanhood in the modern world. After helping her return back to civilisation the three sisters including Red Phoenix, reevaluated their place in the world and she decided to reenter the modern world and become a force for good just like Lady Liberty.

 

After much wandering and strange adventures she was invited by Eldrich to find a home with the Outsiders. She accepted cautiously but has since found the team of misfits and freaks a true home.

With her great strength and resilience, vaunted skill in arms and her great magical blade Red Phoenix has time and time again been the difference in helping her allies overcome the strange mystical and plain weird menaces they encounter.

She has found her place in the modern world as a true champion of the Amazons.

THE BARON (Baron Mordo Homage)

 

for years William Amadeus Cross was obsessed with the supernatural, Born into one of the wealthest families in Austria with a title, and the dtatus and the money that came with it, he was able to induldge his obsession and soon found he was a gifted sorceror with a particular penchant for the black arts.

 

He was soon contacted however by the Master then Earth's master mage who was looking for apprentacies to teach and succeed him. He was intrested in Cross because of his vast magical potential, but more importantly he wanted to mould him and draw him away from the dark side of magic and into the light.

 

Cross studied with the Master for years, soon becoming once of his top apprentices but always felt inferior to Adrian Eldrich the Masters top protege.

 

Eventually desperate to gain favor over his hated rival and gain more sorcerous power he made an evil pact with one of the msot evil demonic entities Tyrannon the Conquerer.

 

On discovering this the Master banished him from his sanctum and Cross vowed revenge against him, Eldrich and all things good and holy in the world.

 

That day Cross became the Baron a sorceror with great skill in the black arts now wholly in the service of his demonic master and willing to do anything to achieve his bidding. He has since bedviled Eldrich and the whole Circle and more recently after basing himself in Ireland the British Superhero team the New Knights.

LADY STARBRIGHT (Silver Surfer homage)

 

Angelila Rarr was a beautiful young girl on the planet Zorr-Lar. She had a normal life was intelligent and had a great future so her parents thought. That al lchanged the day the Devastator of Worlds came to Zorr-Lar eager to feed upon their planet.

 

Desperate to avoid global destruction the ruling council offered the Devestator a pact, that he could choose one from amoung them to serve him for all time as his messenger and finder of new worlds to devour.

 

The Devastator agreed and chose the young Angelila as the one with the most potential for the power cosmic he was about to instil in her.

 

that day Angelila ceased to exist and instead was a being of great cosmic power the noble Lady Starbright. The Devastator imbued his new messenger with a portion of his own incalculable power to prepare her for her tasks ahead.

 

But once he had instructed her and sent her off to find him new worlds the evil ravager of worlds went back on his word as his hunger consumed him and he destroyed Lady Starbright's world anyway.

 

For many years Starbright did not know of his treachery and served him faithfully if reluctantly. However when the Devastator attempted to destroy our own earth and was opposed by the brave Atom Family, Lady Starbright learned the truth and betrayed her master and foiled his attempts at devouring the earth.

 

Swearing revenge the Devastator cosmically imprisoned Lady Starbright to stay in our own solar system and never again to be able to fly amoung the stars as she loved.

 

Despite this imprisoment nearly driving her insane Lady Starbright slowly came to accept earth and its people as her new home as as well as remaining close friends with the Atom Family she was drawn to the Outsiders as a fellow being with no real place she could call home an Outsider as it were.

 

She has become a core member of that loose knit group of super beings often helping Eldrich or her fellow misfits like Grond again some strange mystical threat.

 

Lady Starbright still looks longingly to the stars and also looks up far away awaiting revenge.

ANTHEM (US Agent Homage)

 

Alexander Walker was always a patriot to his country and was one of the first to volunteer for Viertnam. He was soon a member of special forces as his great skill and fitness for the armed forces became apparent.

 

After the war he was drawn into the shadowdy world of espionage working for such groups as Aegis and the Black book before being chosen for a very special new project to replace the Patriot!

 

certain right wing elements in the US goverment were unhappy at the Patriots seemingly liberal leanings and wanted him out of the way and replaced with a more usable right wing model.

 

They arranged to have Patriot stripped of his costume, shiled and identity and Walker was his replacement making him the new Patriot. Taking a new version of the Infinity Serum which pushed him into the superhuman range physically it also made him slightly mentally unstable and rather rabid in his views.

 

After a particuarly bad incident in which some innocents were killed public pressure grew for Stevenson to be given back his identity. This soon happened and it was assumed that Walker would fade away to obscurity.

 

Instead however he was given a new identity as Anthem and the goverment forcibly arrnaged for him to join the Sentinels as their "eyes and ears" as the goverment representative on the team.

 

He was much disliked by his team mates however due in part to the extreme loyalty to the Patriot considered by many the father of the team.

 

He soon left under a cloud only to reemerge again recently as the leader of the new secret US goverment controlled team Executive Sanction.

 

Executive Sanction allbeit supposedly a team of heroes has come into conflict already with the Sentinels, the Freedom League and the Protectors who they seem to be hounding.

THE ALL AMERICAN (Bucky homage)

 

young Jack Barnes was the youngest son of Roger Stevenson's brother Steve. When he was killed in action early in world war 2 Roger took the teenage boy in not thinking the consequences it may have.

 

While on a case of the Liberty League, young Barns found out his identity as the Patriot and wishing to emultae his uncle soon fashioned himself a costume and launched himself into danger as the All American!

 

Seeing the danger of this but also seeing young Jack would not be talked out of it. He agreed to take him on and train him and make him his prtner against the Nazi's!

 

Using his trademark stars and stripes weapons young Jack soon became both very skilled and very hated by the evil third reich.

 

After he had established himself he was inducted into the Liberty League and served with the team throughout the war years until in the dying days of the war tragedy struck.

 

The villains of the third reich had plotted to assassinate the Patriot with a huge bomb while he was travelling back to the US on a proposed secret mission. Discovering the plot Jack Barnes sacrificed himself so his mentor could live and died himself on that fateful plane.

 

Ever since that day the Patriot has tortured himself about his young nephews death and has never ceased to try to bring to justice the Nazi criminals behind it.

PAN and BELLE (Peter Pan/Johnny Thunder homage)

 

The boy hero who could fly only known as Peter Pan appeared mysteriously in Freedom City in the mid 1930's. He claimed and many witnessess support this to be the actual Peter Pan of the stories, which he claims are actually just reports of his adventures in Neverland.

 

Pan very quickly became a hero to the downtrodden children of Freedom City and he has always protected them fiercely from any evil or harm.

 

When Peter said the word "Neverland" he was able to summon the pixie tinkerbell who is actually a sprite from Neverland of immense power who is able to bend reality itself with her magical "Wishes".

 

The two of them soon joined the Liberty League although they very rarely ventured outside of Freedom City due to Peter saying he had a mystical connection to the children of the city that he would not break.

 

Pan and Belle retreated back to Neverland more and more after their teammates disapearance. As Peter was immune to the ravages of time he was instrumental in bringing them back into the present day and both him and Belle were overjoyed to see their friends again after so long.

 

Both remain steadfast defenders of the youth of Freedom City and members of the Liberty League.

DR TWILIGHT (Dr Fate homage)

 

Kent MacDonald was a world famous expert on Egyptain artefacts and history and was now in Egypt once more searching for the fabled Pyramid of Isis god of magic.

 

After months of searching he eventually found the mythic tomb and the one greatest treaure of his career the Mask of Isis.

 

When he was alone with the mask a strange voice called to him asking him to put it on, for some weird reason he complied and he was isntantly filled with the thoughts memories and personality of the dead Egyptian goddess.

 

The goddess and the historian made a pact, he would continue to wear the mask and would agree to fight the enemies of the mystical earth wherever he found them and she would teach him all her ancient secrets of Egyptian magic.

 

He agreed and that day Dr Twilight was born who for a time was considered the most powerful mage on earth as earths master mage.

 

Dr Twilight soon become a core member of the Liberty League and greatly helped win the war effort. However he was one of the 1st members to be spirited away into the time stream and one of the last to return.

 

While he was away much had changed he found he was no longer earth's maste rmage that title now belonged to Eldrich. the mysterious Dr Twilight accepted this with a rare good grace however and soon became a great ally of Eldrich in the Circle as well as rejoining the modern version of his team the Liberty League.
