Powers from a drug or serum

Hiya, folks. I think I've asked this before, but hell if I remember the answer. This time, I promise to learn!

My wife and I both have ideas for characters whose powers are derived from an ingested drug. In her character's case, the drug gives her her powers (healing) for 24 hours; the powers leave in an hour if she misses a dose. My character turns into a sexy, blood-thirsty she-snake for 20 minutes at a time.

We have no idea how to build "Has powers" with "When she takes the drug". Honest. I mean, we're not stupid; we just...can't...figure it out.

Help?

Thanks in advance.

You could build the powers by looking at the restriction backwards, i.e. "Loses powers if doesn't take the drug." Which I would make a dependance, with the frequency set appropriately. Also of course you would not have the character take damage, but instead lose the power. The book only lists down to an 11- activation roll for this type of effect for +10 points, I would put loses the power completely as a +20 modifier (note that that would be a house rule and not official). This may not work as well with your power set with its shorter time limit, possibly you could do yours as having continuing charges of 20 minutes in length.

I'd go with this, myself. I'd also toss in extra time/concentration (only to start powers) for the 20-minute-duration ones (to represent having to actually take the drug). A 20-minute duration isn't so big that those limitations would be worthless (a 24-hour duration, however, is big enough that startup time really doesn't impact on the power, so limitations there aren't appropriate. IMHO, anyway).
