Established or Created cities

In your Dark Champions campaign, do you use an established city for your setting or create the city from the ground up? I'm including Hudson City in the list of established cities because it has its own books.

We're using Hudson City even though the rest of our campaign world uses real cities - a street level campaign just needs too much detail to build from scratch (unless you're insane enough like Steve Long to spend 20 years building it).

I'm only just gearing up to begin a solo game, using Dark Champions: The Animated Series... and I am planning on using Hudson City as the primary setting.

It all depends, I like making up cities for campaigns but I also like to Use established and make up things about them that may or may not be true......

My last DC GM used a real city she knew 8 years before, and nobody else been too. She stole stuff from Hudson, some GURPS shtuff, and like so on. Mishmash; worked good.
