Argus
In the UNTIL Database sourcebook each drawing shows the Martinez Scale in the upper right corner. Is there a published Scale and how does one figure it out. The reason I ask: About 10 years ago I came up with a mathmatical Scale for rating my Supers and I would like to know what others used. A. Argus
Martinez Scale Well I just did a search and found the last time this was brought up. What I would like to know is if there is anyone else who created a rating system for their game. Mine went like this. Active Points in highest Attack power / 5 Highest Defense PD/ED + 1 for each 5 points spent in a special power / 3 OCV add Skill level or modifiers DCV add Skill level or modifiers SPD Total / 5 Round 10d6 Energy Blast = 10 20 PD = 7 OCV 8 = 8 DCV 8 = 8 SPD 5 = 5 Total = 38 / 5 = 7.6 Argus Scale = 8 I found that most character could beat anyone that was a scale above them but not 2. Anyone else? A.
Lord Liaden
While it doesn't actually create a scale, I'm finding the Effectiveness Rating from Digital Hero #3 to be pretty useful at gauging relative abilities of characters. I've been using the suggested rule of thumb of matching two characters of X(ER) to one of X+10(ER), and doubling the number of opponents for every +10 difference; it's working pretty well. There's also a spreadsheet via the "Free Stuff" link at the top of this page to help you calculate a character's ER.
keithcurtis
As the designer of the frame, I know exactly what the Martinez Scale is. However, the curious part of me wants to let people have a few more guesses. Keith "Mr. Cruel" Curtis
Agent X
I came up with one that is a little different from the Effectiveness Rating System most often referenced. I try to take into account, as best I can, the way certain powers stack on to one another and the way certain movement powers are inherently more advantageous. RadeFox
I do believe SteveL already posted in a thread around here somewhere, that the Martinez Scale, is roughly the active points in the power shown divided by 10, Though he did point out that UNTIL's methods of measuring aren't perfect, and so, some of the powers may be mis-reported in their files.
