Oddly enough, when I think of an avatar of Ygolonac (pretransformation), McCain looks very close to what I imagined. OTOH, Obama looks very much like a Nyarlathotep avatar. double edit: On the third hand (third hand? triple ), I've never seen the scenario with "Mr Shiny" so I can't compare. It was a big secret of the book that nobody but the local squid race, who were husbands to the feminine coral, knew it was intelligent. Moreoever it could split it's conciousness and tweak the chemcial reactions to produce different opinions and different points of view. And it had the ability to use it's coral mass as a chemical/biocehmical lab and secretor making all sorts of nasty bioweapons. Such a creature on earth would make a terrifying and alien opponent. Very CoC. And the only way to kill it would be nuking earth's oceans. That and the book had War Abbots, very W40k and something I haven't worked into a Star Hero game yet.
