Split Decision
I'd like to be able to send one of my trained, but otherwise normal crows to deliver and retrieve messages. How shall I build it?
Killer Shrike
Re: Animal Messenger? Does the bird really need to travel the distance, suffering any vicissitudes or misadventures along the way, or is it just an SFX for long distance communication? Split Decision
Re: Animal Messenger? we can say it is the former. Make the bird the SFX.
Alibear
Re: Animal Messenger? You can train animal followers to do simple tasks for 1 point each IIRC. Go to A. 1pt Return when released. 1pt
Split Decision
Re: Animal Messenger? Okay! Now we're getting somewhere. Unfortunately, the birds are a SFX of a group of powers- there is no 'bird' follower, DNPC, etc.
Alibear
Re: Animal Messenger? I don't understand what you are asking. If there is no follower and the bird is just fx for cool powers you could put a limitation on them to represent that it's a real bird and could be shot down, be eaten by hawk, lost in a storm etc. Maybe the Real Weapon limitation. Armitage
Re: Animal Messenger? Stormcrow Sending: Tuala Morn, p. 161. Crystalline Bird: Turakian Age, p. 267/Enchanted Items, p.234. Either Mindlink or Telepathy, Communication Only, with Extra Time to represent how long it takes for the bird to reach its destination. In the examples, the Mindlink is No LOS Needed and the Telepathy is One Hex Accurate, MegaScale (entire continent) The Crystalline Bird is an OAF and the Stormcrow Sending has Physical Manifestation, so either can be attacked en route. secretID
Re: Animal Messenger? I would think Armitage's suggestions or similar. I'm guessing your crow powers are in a MP. If the GM allows it, you could have a MP slot for Summon (even though they're already there) or Follower to allow a little more flexibility. Split Decision
Re: Animal Messenger? It's an elemental control, actually. Seems to work better, since it's mostly attack powers that can be active at the same time. But I do want to stay away from Summon. I don't want to have to run more than one character sheet, as a rule, and so I avoid Summon and similar things. (OT check out my duplicator built without Duplication here) And... is it an incredibly stupid crappy idea to come up with a guy who fights crime with trained crows, or is it just Mrs. Split Decision making fun of me again? I can never tell.
prestidigitator
Re: Animal Messenger? Or perhaps, if you know precisely where (not to whom) you want to send the message: Images: Normal Hearing; MegaScale: 1" range = 100km; Only to Send a Spoken Message (-2); Physical Manifestation
