The Main Man
I went about creating some Champions Package Deals as based on age. Four-Color Superhero is basically a mash-up of Two-Fisted Hero and Masked Crimefighter from Pulp HERO, seeing as how those were the two precedents to superheros. Going in a slightly opposite direction, Iron Age Superhero is a mash-up of Two Fisted Hero and Vigilante from Dark Champions. Bronze/Modern Age Superhero is a mash-up of Four-Color and Iron Age Superhero in turn. The idea behind them is as a starting point for superheroes, particularly when bereft of time, which makes a nice combo with USPD. Thoughts? Comments? Complaints? pinecone
Re: Superhero Package Deals You might look at my old "Expert" thread. There I made various Expert pkgs that included things like "Crimefighter" if I recall. I recently Necro'd it for the Expert Luchadors..... The Main Man
Re: Superhero Package Deals I'll have to take a look. BTW, I saves them as characters for HD since we can't seem to attach Package Deals, but luckily Package Deals are a cinch to convert from characters. Peregrine
Re: Superhero Package Deals Did you add the characteristics together from each originating package for the Four-Color and Iron Age packages because you were translating from Pulp/Dark Champions to Champions proper? (I noticed that the Bronze/Modern has the averages of the Four-Color and Iron Age.)
The Main Man
Re: Superhero Package Deals Did you add the characteristics together from each originating package for the Four-Color and Iron Age packages because you were translating from Pulp/Dark Champions to Champions proper? (I noticed that the Bronze/Modern has the averages of the Four-Color and Iron Age.) Yes. As stated before, the idea is that, since the Golden Age superheroes were descendents of the pulp heroes (Doc Savage, The Shadow, The Spider, etc), I figured, "why not just add the two package deals from Pulp HERO together and close the gaps?" From there, I thought that Iron Age Superheroes would go in a slightly different direction as they have a lesser taste for theatrics, so I traded out the Masked Crimefighter portion of the Four Color Superhero for Vigilante to model characters like the Punisher who, while still astonishingly competent, still contain that Superheroic essence. You could say that the Two-Fisted Hero Package Deal is the core of the three package deals, which I would argue is true of Superheroes in general. Lastly, Bronze Age superheroes could be seen as that sort of transition between the two ages, while the Modern Age can be seen as a sort of recession/revival, so I designed them to use the same package deal by simply taking the Four-Color and Iron Age Package Deals and mashing them together in turn. I would also say that certain Golden Age and Iron Age superheroes would be well-served to purchase the "Soldier" Package Deal to boot, but I don't think that that package deal merited being thrown into any mixes of the sort. Peregrine
Re: Superhero Package Deals All of that makes sense, thanks. I especially like how you are giving props to the pulp antecedents of the comics.
