Prologue

Today is V+1 Day. Over the last two years you along with fellow super heroes have done battle with an invading alien force. Their advanced war machines rivaled only by the Earth's most potent super science. This long and bloody conflict has seen the death of tens of millions on both sides of the war and the rise and fall of heroes and villains, human and alien.

Through these last two years your character has lost dear friends and made allies of their worst enemies. They were their when Moscow fell into a sea of fire, they were there when Southern California was crushed by seismic generators. Yet, somehow they have managed to survive. Yesterday the combined Earth forces forces led a final desperate strike on SETI Prime where the invaders first landed and began their conquest.

Notes

The description of the alien force has been left intentionally vague. Feel free to add in the details of what the invasion force might look like. This scenario assumes the alien forces have the means necessary to block any quick fix or that a quick fix such as time travel only set the stage for the war instead of an instant victory for the invaders.

Questions

What does the world look like now?

Were the Earth forces victorious or is this V+1 day for the invaders? Edit: As a player which would you rather explore?

What is the landscape like for your character? How has the world around them changed?

How has your character changed through this war?

What Would Your Character Do?

Re: Aftermath

Badger- not change much. He was already a pretty gloomy person, I mean he did watch his mother and sister get massacred when he was little. Believes his sole purpose to continue life is to fight his enemies. He really doesnt have many "real" friends. So, on that level, he was probably able to remove himself from emotion. Though he does get very protective of children (though that may or may not be related to not being able to protect his little sister way back then). So, witnessing any child deaths would have been somewhat hard (though with the benefit/liability of opening up some berserker disadvantages). Cant see him working directly with his archnemesis though, especially given said nemesis was involved in his family's death.

Anyhow if Earth loses he goes underground to continue fighting till he dies. If Earth wins, the battle resumes with his worst enemy until one or the other dies. If archnemesis has died, he would be depressed because he didnt do it (and also that he has nothing to fight for, he would be unable to ever resume a peaceful life). Another interesting twist is the fact is that Badger's father is/was an alien (he went missing, possibly abandoned his Earth family and went back to his people). Would his father's species have been those aliens (or involved in any way). ANd what light does that put on his archnemesis? Did that archnemesis do what he did in a misguided effort to prevent this war? (Yeah, he still is evil to the core. But, it could make for interesting role-playing) And what if his father is still alive and was helping the aliens somehow? (yeah, badger pretty much spits on his memory because he abandoned them). Or what if his father had returned to fight alongside the Earthlings against his own alien people? Just some ideas that could be ran with.

Frosty Bob- Not much to tell. He has fought in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the first Gulf War. Those past several years of war was pretty fun. Now he doesnt have anything to do with himself (if won). Goes underground to "whoop more E.T. @$$" (if lost)

Not sure which scenario I would want to explore. Both would be good in an underground guerilla type affair because they have shown to be good at disappearing when the need arises (though Bob might get bored being hidden). But, that would be a campaign that I think would get bored quick. Not sure I would want to play out the aftermath either way with those 2 characters regardless of who wins. (Badger and Bob are the weapons you use during war, not the tools you use to rebuild). On a rebuild the Earth after campaign, I'd probably have to create a new hero to be honest. (Badger could go down in the final battle, Bob well, is immortal, so he could just disappear for awhile, you could always bring him back, no matter how much time has past)

It sounds like Badger could have a lot of interesting plots through the war with his Father and his arch-foe. If your GM presented you the option of character death to put an end to the war out that be a deal breaker for you or do you think that would ve a fitting end for Badger making room for a new character in a world trying to rebuild itself?
