Ragnarok
1. How does one "shield-bash" in HERO? Is it just your normal STR damage or is it rather linked to the shield specifically (and thus would change with the size/type of shield), and would one need to buy Weapon Element: Shield for a related martial arts focus? 2. Roughly how many civilians and guards would comprise a small medieval town? Civilians can be flexible but I want to know how many guards there would be so that I can establish patrol patterns, alert scenarios, how easily a small army could destroy them, etc... Nolgroth
Re: A couple quick questions 1.) Shield bash is based on the size of the shield. The larger the shield, the more dice of Normal damage it does. I would have to look it up, but I think that the DCV bonus acts as a negative to OCV. STR adds to damage just like any other attack. 2.)http://www.io.com/~sjohn/demog.htm

Well mist of your guards would be actually Militia who would be farmers most of the time. But for full time guards id see no more than 5 or 6 per 100 adults. But for full time guards id see no more than 5 or 6 per 100 adults. Borrowing from the DnD DMG 3.5, 1 in 100 Civilians should be a full-time guard, and 1 in 10 should be a member of the Militia. Linked below is a random town generator for DnD 3.5 http://www.myth-weavers.com/generate_town.php
