Escafarc
Re: DC question Deadly Blow Talent is the way to go. I don't believe Martial Maneuvers add to Base Damage with weapons so it can't double.
Rapier
Re: DC question My first inclination was to say 'yes, you can add the Slash maneuver damage to the 1d6+1 (for a total of 2.5d6).' But I've just read through a bunch of the Adding Damage sections and it seems that what the maneuver is doing with +4 DCs is adding to the STR for the attack. So in this case the character would have an effective 7 DCs of STR to add to the damage of the dagger...but he can't use them all. The dagger would be maxxed out at 1d6+1. ghost-angel
Re: DC question If you can't more than double the base damage - then you can't more than double the base damage no matter what sources are adding to the attack. It stops at 1D6+1 flat, because that's 2x the Damage Classes of the Dagger's Base Damage. Having the Doubling Base Damage Rule probably means you're using 5E, in which case the 4DCs from the Martial Attack are halved for the Killing Attack anyways. In 5E Deadly Blow adds to the Base Damage.
ghost-angel
Re: DC question I didn't see a mention of "Deadly Blow" .. and there's a Martial Maneuver that adds +4DC so I assumed that would be it. If it's not - then yes Deadly Blow adds to Base Damage in a very screwed up "GM Hand Wave" kind of way that I've never liked and am glad changed in 6E. And even then... Deadly Blow doesn't negate anything I said above since it Adds To Base Damage. . . which STILL can't be doubled. It just moved the target. Hugh Neilson
Re: DC question I agree with the 6e change removing the doubling limit. There's no reason a 6e game must either be "no limits" or "can only double base damage". STR could be limited to doubling base damage, and Martial Arts not similarly limited. MA could be unlimited, or could be restricted to adding the base damage again, or could be restricted to adding some number of DC's regardless of the base damage of the weapon (say 6 DC's added at maximum). Use of skill levels could add damage separate from STR or MA, or pool with either or both. Of course, you could end up with a very complex "adding damage" structure, but as long as the players and GM are OK with that result, this isn't a problem. Apply whatever rules and restrictions you like for your game.
