Golden Hunter v6.1

Background/History: Arthur "Art" Ward was born in June 21st, 1985 in Dublin, Ireland to Pierce Ward and Cathleen Ward (nee Reid), both members of the Garda Sionchana (Guardians of the Peace). He was raised and educated in a multilingual household speaking English and Irish Gaelic. A star athlete and student he earned several awards and scholarships. He completed his Leaving Certificate Examinations with honors at age seventeen. He accepted a scholarship from San Francisco State University as a Student-Athlete playing for the Gators and studying at the School of Music and Dance.

Fortunately his aunt Maeve Reid lived in Bay City with her son Sean and he lived with them while attending school. Art and Sean became best friends and even introduced him to his girl friend's best friend Freyja Jansson. In his third year he was injured during a dance performance and the Doctors ordered him to take time off to recover. The semester had just ended and a new one was starting when he got news that Freya and Sean's girl friend Claudia were going an Archeological dig on Gugh Island, in the Scilly Isles of the southeastern coast of Cornwall, United Kingdom.

Sean and Art hatched a plan. They took a semester off and joined their girl friends on the dig, unfortunately Dr. Lewis Clark the expedition leader put them to work. The dig site was the Kittern Hill burial mound and sealed by the Old Man of Gugh standing stone. The neolithic site was perfectly preserved and upon opening it they discovered it had be hermetically sealed. Inside were dozens of bodies of ancient celtic warriors still wearing the arms and armor they wore into battle. The cave floor, walls, and ceiling were decorated with celtic art, drawings, and symbols.

Doctor Clark discovered a hidden cave passage that lead beneath the ocean floor. Inside they found the scattered remains of celtic warriors bearing arms and armor of highly advanced design.

Personality/Powers: Art is still experimenting and learning about the Malvan Golden Hunter Battlesuit. He also is not a Malvan, nor is he blessed with Elemental Powers.

Quote: As Golden Hunter "The wings of justice are inescapable". As Art "Come on guys we can do this."

Appearance: As Art Ward he is a strikingly handsome young Irish man with raven black hair and piercing emerald green eyes. His native accent is pretty distinctive. He wears a mix of athletic and dance wear. As Golden Hunter his features and complexion become Malvan and speaks with an California-English (American). The Golden Hunter Winged Battlesuit is a skin tight black and gold sparkled stars and wings. (DC Comics Legion of Super-Heroes, Starman, Thom Kallor Homage)

Re: Golden Hunter v6.1

When the the wing shield means, that he blocks with his wings:

Don't use barrier. That is (normally) for something that doesn't move and is seperate of the character (force wall, elemental wall).

Opale build american dream who can hide behind her shield (10 or 15 rD, activation roll). A Blocking bonus may be possible too, but that wouldn't help against explosion AOE's.

But I am not certain if he is a force field user (wich would go for the barrier)

Afaik "Wing Buffet" should only cost 4f (45/10, rounded to the advantage of the player), but I could be wrong.

Consider buying the flying Non-Combat Multiplier as Naked Adder (some would suggest a Movement Multipower but for that it could be cheesy), that way flying costs at less END at combat speeds (or you can increase combat speed, and buy the Naked Adder only for the same part you do now).

Is "Malvan Golden Hunter Battlesuit" another MP or a VPP?

Resistant Protection: making Flash and Power Defense Resistant is afaik useless, as the only things that would be affected are Killing AVAD's that do Body (wich is highly ineffective and nothing you would want a player to have). For NND Defensive Purposes, 2 Points (the minimum) Resistant would be enough, but I have no idea how commong NND's vs. Resistant Flash is.

Edit: I am Uncertain if a cosmetic transform is the right way to cloak the Battlesuit. How about Images to sight group?

Re: Golden Hunter v6.1

Not nessesarily. He only has 30 END and 10 REC wich is a llitle bit low for 60 STR (6 END per Phase use). Martial Arts are usually a good way to save end while still having most of the benefits of high STR (For Grab, Damage), but not being able to lift a jumbojet.

I think there may be something wrong with the KA, so I better check the math here:

1 1/2d6 equals 25 Basis Points. With 3/4 Advantages, it's 44 AP. The adding damage rules say: Every DC equals +5 AP for the attack. Advantages thus lower the effect of Bonus DC.

With his base STR of 20, he gets 4 DC or +20 AP. Thus it would count as a 64 AP Attack (~35 Base Points) and do 2d6+1 with all the advanatges.

With his full STR of 60 he gets +12 DC, thus making it a 104 AP attack (~60 Base Points) and do 4d6 with all the advantages.

When my math isn't mayorli wrong, that is definetely to much. When you put Advantages on an attack, the number of dices should go down to keep it within the DC*5 AP Limit of the campaign.

Re: Golden Hunter v6.1

I have left the math to the HD v3 program.

Check Out his Powers for Extra Characteristics END and STUN are 50ea.

Most likely rounding error. Could even be on my side, had to look up the precise rules where to round how. Still, adding even 2 DC's (10 AP) to 60 STR is already at the upper Limit for Standart Heroic, so you need to decide what you want and if you really need all that STR. Or just save points by dropping the KA to 1/2d6 + STR (17 AP, 14 Real Cost).

You are right, haven't seen the +20 to REC and END. Often such increasses are noted in the characteristics block with the following format (if your GH had +10 EGO):

13/23 EGO 3 12-/14-

Re: Golden Hunter v6.1

He is not Malvan, but Human and thus is not fully integrated with the Golden Hunter battlesuit. There are still powers and abilities he has yet to unlock. He does not possess Aero, Terra, Pyro, or Hydro Kinetic powers like the original Golden Hunters and therefore is less powerful. Time will tell... ;) According to the Champions Universe Timeline the Golden Hunters of Malva vanished shortly after the annihilation of the last Elder Worm by the Malvans and the Progenitors. The character's background story when complete will tell you more, but I am suffering writer's block. I blame GestaltBennie. ;)

Re: Golden Hunter v6.1

Here is a rough outline...

Inside the caves that lead under the Celtic Ocean lies a huge cavern. In the darkness and the shadows created by their lights they see three figures surrounding a fourth. Around them lie the remains of a dozen Celtic Warriors and Druids. They all bear the highly advanced arms and armor. As they get closer Dr. Clark cautions them to be careful and stay behind him.

As they approach they see a dim glow coming from the center figure and see a disturbing light emanating from a transparent sphere clutched in it hand. As they watch the Doctor approaches the three figure surrounding the fourth. He describes one of them as a Reptile Man wearing an oddly familiar garb and bearing an short staff with a ball on one end. The second is even more fascinating, a humanoid with golden skin and wearing a winged costume all in black, but covered in by golden lights looking like a star scape. The third is also a man, but the armor of his right hand was gonna and the hand itself looked made of metal.

The center figure was not even remotely human, it costume was badly damaged by burns, slashes, and crushed. The figure inside looked like a human sized earthworm. Suddenly the orb flared the figure disintegrated into dust. Dr. Clark caught the orb before it could fall and his cry to catch it was drowned out by a sudden scream and then a silent scream almost louder. Horrified they watched him melt and transform from a human being to an Elder Worm.

Everyone from save Art. He screamed at them to run (not knowing that some of them had already fled.) and ran foreword. He managed a great aerial kick and sent the orb flying into the dark. The creature's silent outrage rang in his mind and he fell back into the Winged alien. Meanwhile Sean managed to grab a fighting stick from one of the fallen Celtic Warriors and ran after the horror that Dr Clark had become.

The three figures once surrounding the Elder Worm moved. The one with the Silver Hand blinked and looked around. The Winged figure caught Art and glanced over him at the Elder Worm searching for the glowing orb. The Reptile Man's staff glowed and a blot of energy blasted the creature away from it. The Elder Worm turned to face him and as Sean race up blasted them both back into the cavern.

Art was stunned as he watched the golden skilled winged warrior rapidly age in front of his eyes. The alien collapsed to the ground and whispered something badly in Gaelic. His hand gripped Art's and then a bright light blinded them both and the he turned to dust. The room spun and the light grew less and less bright. He leaded to his feet perfectly balanced, but five feet in the air with wings flapping to keep him there. Unfortunately that is when the Elder Worm blasted him with blast of energy that blew him backwards and shrieked in his mind.

Sean and the Reptile Man wear blasted to the ground again, but the fighting stick Sean picked deflected the worst of hit and the lizard's staff too. A quick look into it's reptilian and intelligent gaze sent a shiver through Sean, but an understanding as well. He too was aging at an phenomenal rate. Reaching out it placed the fighting stick at him and Sean caught it before it fell to dust.

The Celtic Warrior with the Silver Hand attacked the Elder Worm and distracted it from them. Shouting in ancient Gaelic "Destroy the Orb! Now!" Comprehension was not needed as the Nauda's command presence sent them into motion together. Art winged over the glowing Worm Orb and lashed out with his Wings at the same time Sean brought down the Star*Guard's Lyonessian's fighting sticks.

The Orb shattered and again they heard the silent Telepathy shriek in their minds. The Elder Worm turn on Art and Sean enraged, leaving an opening the Nuada Airgetlám did not ignore and drove his spear through it with a burst of energy. This time it's telepathic death cry sent them all to their knees. In it aftermath they felt the presence of another, but far far away. Then silence as the room descended into darkness. The only sound was their labored breathing, the flapping of wings, and the distant noise of the archeology staff running for their lives.

Into the darkness there came light... Nuada's weapon shone with gentle blue light and the regarded the two Irishmen with a piercing gaze. His bearing changed he spoke in a voice of command. In ancient Gaelic he spoke these words "<<< Work In Progress>>> ;)" He gave them the names of the two alien warriors who fell defending humanity and the universe from the creatures they called the Elder Worm. Of the Lyonessian Warriors only their Progenitor arms and armor remained.

Nuada collapsed the cavern and caves behind him sealing their tombs forever and their secrets. Nuada bade them farewell and clasped their arms like ancient Celtic warriors of old. Then he dove into the sea and vanished from sight. Art and Sean looked at each other and burst out in laughter at the clueless look in the others faces.

Sean to Art - "Well Lad, now what?"

Art to Sean - "I do not know about you, but I wanna check on the girls first."

Sean to Art - "Then what? How do we explain this."

Art to Sean - "I'll make something up, but I think we better keep these as secret." Pointing towards Sean fighting sticks and his winged costume.

Sean to Art - "I do not think you'll have to worry about that lad." Art looks down and sees his cloths. He can still feel the suit and wings.

Art to Sean - "To weird, but where are you going to hide those sticks?" Smirking at his cousin. Then goggling as the sticks collapse into batons and he shoves them into his jacket.

Sean to Art - "I'll think of something."

Back in Bay City, California weeks later and after the funeral for Dr. Lewis Clark the boys decide keep their superpowers secret. Over the next couple of years two new Superheroes take up residence. Knightstick II and the Golden Hunter.

Golden Hunter met Firewing in a battle over Presidio Island. Firewing believing that Phazor the Emperor of Malva had finally sent a Golden Hunter to hunt and capture him. Unfortunately he discovered that a human was wearing the Golden Hunter winged battlesuit. Believing that his people's honor was being besmirched he challenges the Golden Hunter to battle. Fortunately for Art, Firewing is a big enough threat that timely assistance by other Superheroes has saved him. How long until time runs out?

The Slug heard the telepathic death cry of the Elder Worm Lord and the destruction of the Lesser Worm Orb by a Malven Golden Hunter and a Star*Guard. The Slug's alien mind is not easy to understand by experts, but one thing is certain the arrival of a Golden Hunter on Earth is not good and so it sends it's Minions out to mislead, delay, and attack this Golden Hunter.
