Boll Weevil
Howdy, Herophiles. Can anyone tell me why, in published Champions characters, a Radio Earpiece (HRRP) has the limitation "Affected as Sight and Hearing Groups"? The notes make no mention of sight being required to activate. I am confused as always. Thanks! Boll Weevil
CrosshairCollie
Re: Why is radio earpiece flashed as sight? Probably just a typo; they likely meant 'Affected as radio and hearing groups'.

tombrown803
Re: Why is radio earpiece flashed as sight? According to the rule book HRRP broadcasts all of the broadcast spectrum (radio, TV, cell transmission, etc.). This means that the power is perceivable by sight group. If your sight is flashed, you can't see, and then you are unable to use the power

psyber624
Re: Why is radio earpiece flashed as sight? Yup, and more "techie" earpieces might include sort of an ocular device as well that can swing down to display data or pictures in front of your eye (frequently depicted in the movies/games etc. for things like overlaying floor plans you can reference with a minor glance, or IR/Penetrating Radar* to locate and monitor movement behind walls while not completely obscuring normal vision) And note that it doesn't change the base cost or limitation cost between the two versions so basic HRRP earpieces with no ocular and earpieces with ocular would technically cost exactly the same. (* HRRP doesn't provide the ability to obtain this sort of data, but it is how the data could be relayed to you from a "command center" or forward scout who did have those capabilities.) Anything in Champions, Champions Powers etc can and probably should be modified by the player or GM. Those books are there to help create characters, not strictly define how power "should" be built. Boll Weevil
Re: Why is radio earpiece flashed as sight? Thanks, everyone. I will keep the earpiece as Hearing only and add Sight only if their is a visible component (even if it is a GUI menu on a wrist-mounted communicator).
