Dr Divago Posted November 12, 2003 Report Share Posted November 12, 2003 A character i've thinking about is a very powerful telepath... her telepathy is so powerful that she cannot turn off, and... well, think about going into the underground and hear thought of all peoples around you... and only surface thought, confusedest and chaoticest thought of hudred, thousend of people, everybody which chaotically thinks of his business without a consistency... so, what kind of "problem" i can give her? and, her battle helmet is built for "isolating" her from other people, focusing her telepathy in another power (helm use Focus limitation to remove disadvantage and give some extra points to build another little power) so, ideas or help to build this? Asperion Posted November 12, 2003 Report Share Posted November 12, 2003 Instead of making the telepathy always on, in the 4th ed Ultimate Mentalist there is a Phys Lim that does this same thing. I do not have the book with me now but I believe that it is something like mental static for 20 points. What it does is make the telepath constantly "hear" the thoughts of those around him, occasionally to the point of granting the hero a headache (loss of CON, DCV, or some other game effect). Well, actually i'm the master and this is a PC for a con; so i've "skipped" the problem chainging a little my conception of this girl...woman actually she has a NON always on telepathy with standard effect dissadvantage (-0) and a "dependence" to a "mind suppression drug", so using this drug she can suppress the power of the telepathy (and control them), and without this drug... full power telepathy cause her some problem... Stone Posted November 14, 2003 Report Share Posted November 14, 2003 You could make the PC make an EGO roll at a minus every round she is without the helmet. This could simulate her trying to overcome the sudden flood of thoughts and feelings from those around her. If she fails the roll, then she is overcome by the thoughts of outsiders and make actually take some stun damage or maybe treat it as a flash attack.
