    The good news is the orthopedic surgeon who fixed my ankle last time doesn't think I screwed up my ankle ligaments, just sprained the joint somewhat. The bad news is he wants me to protect it for a while, so I'm stuck wearing my old air cast/walking boot thing, which is just so comfortable. Two weeks of this, then back to the doctor again for hopeful final confirmation that I didn't screw up my ability to walk for the next year and a half.

    Damn it damn it damn it. Had reconstructive surgery on my right ankle in May of 2007 to stitch back together several torn ankle ligaments. I'm to the point now I can actually walk barefoot again, but yesterday I'm walking out to the garage and I step down and one of my wife's shoes is there. I step wrong and wind up completely rolling my bad ankle to the outside hard enough that there's a bruise on the outside of my little toe. I sprained the crap out of the ankle, and I've spent the last 24 hours worrying that I might have actually screwed the thing up again. It's not swelling at all, but it just feels shaky and unstable.

     

    Having spent several years with very limited mobility and basically having to learn how to walk again, I really don't want to have to go through it all again. Crap.
