So you think life is all just one big gamble' date=' a throw of the dice, and there's no need to be productive or take any responsibilities because in the end it's all down to luck? Sheesh...with people like you around, it's no wonder the economy's going into the toilet![/quote']

How dare you compare horse racing to dice rolling.

    A d6 rolled is going to be a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and each of those has a 1:6 chance of coming up. Random.

Betting on a horse race is a skill. You have to take into account the age of the horse, the breed of the horse, the trainer of the horse, and the jockey. Then compare it to the 7-9 other horses and jockeys out there. I have gone to a horse race, paid for admission, purchased refreshments, and walked away with more money in my pocket then when I arrived before. Granted it was only about $2.00 but it made the day better.

Life is not a big gamble, life is about skill.

On April 2, 1982 a mail plane crashed into a mountain at Crete. The plane was a mail plane off of the U.S.S. Eisenhower, that, among other things, passangers including my Uncle Michael Davis.

My grandparents and my mom were notified initially that the plane had crashed in the ocean on the way to Greece. Later, they were informed that it had hit the mountain and that there were survivors on the mountain side. A third time they were approached and informed that he was dead from thermal burns.

My uncle was born on October 29, 1956. I was three years old at the time of his death.

I do not remember my uncle but I would like to learn more about him. I have decided to get information about his service, his life, and the circumstances behind his death. Any advice on how to go about this? I know you can get some information through the navy, which I will do eventually, but are there other ways, such as through the Freedom of Information Act?

    Super Squirrel,

I'm confused. You've stated that you want to make THIS THREAD the longest EVER (by number of posts). And yet you keep spawning off new threads that are competing with this thread.

Do you realize that you're sabotaging your own efforts?

    Doc

Do you realize how many threads I have not created because of this thread?

I feel bad for your friend. However, I must say ...

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I avoid political threads. Don't turn this thread into another one!

    -AA

If someone tries to create a political deal out of this, I'll move it to a new thread. I was just commenting because I'm upset that a friend of mine has to go back when he was supposed to be discharged.

First, I apologize for reprinting this without permission. That said, I'm now pretty ticked off. From my friend's LJ:

So I just found out today that my brigade is being put on stop loss at the end of june.... How convenient right after we turn over power to The Iraqis. Stop loss means they won't let you get out of the army for a period of time.

What does this mean you ask? It means that in the not to distant future my unit will be going back to iraq. Iraq made me see things ALOT more differently than I used to, it mostly made me see things all fucked up and I'm starting to get over that. (its called post traumatic war syndrome) I did alot of things that people would deem "not right" and I was in situations that I didn't want to be in at all. So why in the hell would I want to go back?! I did my time for the army I fought a war for the army leave me the fark alone and let me get out!!!!

Just when you think that things will be going good soon the "uncle sam fairy" comes and ruins your day. (this fairy goes by many alias but mine is the uncle sam fairy)

    WHY ME?!?!?!

Bold text editted for the censorship commity. :D

Column 1 would be # of posts

Column 2 would be # of posts - STDEV of Column 1

Column 3 would be # of views

Column 4 would be # of views - STDEV of Column 2

Column 5 would be z-score test for Column 2 and 4 (I can give you the formula for this if you want)

It would require every single thread ever posted if we wanted to be anally accurate or we could just stick to all threads over 100 replies.
