1. Re: Things That Exist in a Superhero Universe

Active deities and pantheons that proclaim their divinity and perform incredible feats but don't attract any meaningful numbers of new followers.

Corporations that don't throw huge sums of money at the inventors of world changing technology.

    Or demonstrations against them.

I think DC touched on this very lightly with the Church of Superman and in Wonder Woman. If I did a reboot of Thor I think I would bring it up.

  2. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares

Well, considering the story is rife with incest, murder, and betrayal (for starters), it's not exactly family-oriented to begin with, which is why I doubt Disney would even touch it. But let's not forget the title of this thread. ;)

Edit: Watching the Ring Cycle on PBS made me want to start a campaign based on Norse or Germanic mythology.

How is that different from any other fairy tale he would just "Disney-fy" it.

  3. Re: Are Thanos and Darkseid the Same Person?

Really the gauntlet itself does nothing. It's just Thanos' glove. If Thanos was from Texas it would be the Infinity Belt Buckle (in the shape of Texas' date=' of course). Darkseid should put those gems on his own glove.[/quote']

While looking for a picture of that I found this

  4. Re: Are Thanos and Darkseid the Same Person?

    Both are Kirby creations.

EDIT Whoops Thanos is a Starlin creation. From Iron Man of all places.

EDIT part two;Starlin has admitted the character is influenced by Jack Kirby's Darkseid:
Kirby had done the New Gods, which I thought was terrific. He was over at DC at the time. I came up with some things that were inspired by that. You'd think that Thanos was inspired by Darkseid, but that was not the case when I showed up. In my first Thanos drawings, if he looked like anybody, it was Metron. I had all these different gods and things I wanted to do, which became Thanos and the Titans. Roy took one look at the guy in the Metron-like chair and said : "Beef him up! If you're going to steal one of the New Gods, at least rip off Darkseid, the really good one!"[3]
